Publisher's Summary

In this explosive account of wrongful acts and ongoing cover-ups, Jesse Ventura takes a systematic look at the wide gap between what the American government knows and what it reveals to the American people.

For too long, we the people have sat by and let politicians and bureaucrats from both parties obfuscate and lie. And according to this former Navy SEAL, former pro wrestler, and former Minnesota governor, the media is complicit in these acts of deception. For too long, the mainstream press has refused to consider alternate possibilities and to ask the tough questions. Here, Ventura looks closely at the theories that have been presented over the years and separates the fact from the fiction.

In Ventura's eyes, the murder of Abraham Lincoln and the assassinations of the Kennedys and Martin Luther King all need to be reexamined. Was Watergate presented honestly, or was the CIA involved? Did the Republican Party set out to purposefully steal two elections on behalf of George W. Bush? Has all the evidence been presented about the 9/11 attacks, or is there another angle that the media is afraid to explore? And finally, is the collapse of today's financial order and the bailout plan by the Federal Reserve the widest-reaching conspiracy ever perpetrated?

"Lots of things you didn't know but should"

Not your typical "conspiracy" type book. Actually well presented and tells truths that most Americans do not know but should.
I lived in MN when Jesse was elected governor. I always thought he had run just to raise the ratings of his radio program and thought he was just as surprised as the media when he actually won. Though he ran as an Independent, in office he acted more like a Republican than he comes across as in this book. If he had acted according to the attitudes he presents here, he would have been begged to governor again. Anyhow, he presents some very interesting facts here that every American should know. For instance, did you know that John Wilkes Booth was not a "lone assassin" when he shot Lincoln? It is known that he was part of a conspiracy and was part of a group that attempted other assassinations that same night, but our history books keep telling the same story over and over. I won't spoil it by telling you some of the more interesting things Jesse reveals. You need to listen for yourself, decide for yourself. You need to be informed -- and if the media won't tell you, maybe you'll let Jesse tell you.

    "Worth Hearing and Highly Outrageous"

The first half of the book was mostly historical, explaining several things that we've been taught wrong. Due to how old the topics were they were interesting to hear but not inflamitory.

The second half of the book, however, hits closer and closer to current day; and Jesse and Dick cover items I knew in parts (hence know are true) but go much deeper than I ever suspected.

Thanks Jesse and Dick for writing this.

    "Very Interesting"

If you are looking for information on aliens or fake Moon landings, this book is not for you. Gov. Ventura details some information on the Kennedy assassinations, MLK, Malcom X, 9/11, and Watergate. The author even touches on recent questions with very compelling arguments and facts. Many of the information presented, I do not want to believe is true. However other books I have read on similar matters only corroborate the author's story.

    "Surprisingly good"

I was rather skeptical to this book, in particular having seen one episode of the poorely produced TV show with the same topic. However, right away this book get into analysis and reflections that were amazingly interesting. There are no hard claims of this and that, but constant appeal to probabilities, reasoning and the rationality against the official explanations and 'truth'. Truly an eye opener and it gives food for reflections and though. It is far from the platitudes one (may) expect from this author. I highly recommend it to the politically and historically interested, being it Republican or Democrat, left or right on the political scale.

You've got to love the guy. He does put his "money where his mouth is". Quite forthright in his views, and, who knows? Perhaps there are grains of truth in his theories.

Great book, very interesting BUT the narrator is so boring and monotone. This book could have kept my attention 100% more with a lively narrator.

    "Narrator is terrible"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

Droning, boring narration with odd pronunciations, almost like a computer. Turned it off after 15 minutes.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Couldn't bear the narration long enough to find out.

Would you be willing to try another one of George K. Wilson’s performances?

    NO!NO!NO!NO!NO!NO!NO!

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from American Conspiracies?

Couldn't bear the narration long enough to find out.

    Any additional comments?

Never, ever, have George K. Wilson narrate a book unless it's a sleep aid. For that, he would be fine.
