"Pimsleur programs provide plenty of positive reinforcement that will keep learners on track, and we found that Pimsleur gave us more proficiency and confidence in speaking the new language than any of the other language programs we reviewed." (AudioFile magazine)
"Excellent Learning Program"
I will have to say that I was very skeptical about this program at first, but Pimsleur has definitely converted me! By unit 17 of phase 2, I was able to converse with a couple from Germany. Mind you, I do not have a
FULL vocabulary, but the couple said that my pronunciation was like that of a native speaker. Granted, I do spend more time than the program recommends per day and have had to repeat some units, but to be able to be understood by a non-English speaker after only roughly six months TOTAL (including this program and others) is impressive. Of these programs, I have used the Pimsleur program for about four of these months. I can speak better German than I can Spanish, of which I had four years of formal study.
"Introduction to the German Language"
This audiobook works great as a family foreign language project. We listen to it for a half hour a day.
It is realistic and simple and goes back to lesson 1.
He sounds like he is German and is pretty clear.
No. We just did it a little at a time.
"Great for learning German on the go."
I'm going to be traveling to Germany next year and want to learn as much German as I can before I go. I already have a long commute, so these tapes seemed like a great solution for me. Now that I've finished this first set, I'm definitely going to be purchasing the rest of these lessons. They were easy to follow, and I feel like I'm actually starting to learn valuable communication skills rather than just spitting back vocabulary words. It's too early to tell just how much I'll learn, but I liked my experience enough to keep going.
