The Dangerous Days of Daniel X

What a disappointment! Not at all what I expected from the author. No suspense, no real plot, just gimmicks. Appears to be more appropriate for the teen set.

I do not recommend this book to any who wish to find a scifi series that will challenge the imagination. I have enjoyed JP's writing before but the plot of this story is trying to be another "Harry Potter" series about a young hero. The publisher's blip indicates for the reader who is "age 10 to 110".

I found the story line lacked any substance. In each situation that arose you knew there would be some surprising magic action to overcome the villan. I will admit to a couple of clever ideas as to how a slight 15 year old can overcome the nasty alien's size and power.

Also many key issues were left with out explanation. How did Daniel survive after the murder of his parents? I also think that James Patterson has decided that the grosser the description of the aliens true form the more the young male reader will be attracted to the series.

The reader was probably chosen for his young voice since Daniel is 15, and he does an very good job. But since I knew of the actor who read it, I saw his face as Daniel.

Save your bucks and skip this one!!

I enjoy James Patterson's Women's Murder Club, Alex Cross and standalone thrillers.

A few years ago, I tried listening to the first two Maximum Ride books, but I really didn't enjoy them. This book felt like more of the same, just with slightly different characters. I would guess if kids like the Maximum Ride series, they will also like this. I just wish they had made it clear that this book was geared towards kids before I wasted a credit and 5 hours on it.

Like another reviewer stated--it scares me that there are at least 2 more of these books finished or in the works--I hope the author isn't too busy to release more of his great adult thrillers, and less of the kids' books.

I think this book is underrated and not at all so bad as some reviewers seem to think. Took some time to get into it, but then it was exciting and quite an funny book, and I actually didnt like the MiB movies, but as a book it works.

Very good narration!

I was somewhat disappointed by this book. If I was 13-17 I might have really enjoyed the book. It's fast and quick to listen to. Less than impressive. The narrator did a good job. Choose another audiobook and wait for this one to go on sale.

From Patterson yes, BUT NOT from this series. Narrated by Milo Ventimiglia, definitely not.

Writing to a more mature audience. If this was written for a younger audience, I think Patterson underestimates young readers.

His narration was like a novice reader practicing punctuation inflections after just learning the difference between a period and an exclamation point. It was also frustrating listening to the unexpected pauses in the middle of sentences.

The characters weren't the problem. It was their dialogue. Golly gee shucks, it was like listening to Gomer Pyle talk.

I had listened to many James Patterson books and was excited to come across this series by Patterson. I have enjoyed many books that may be targeted to the younger audience, but I don’t think that anyone over the age of 10 would find this book worth more than 2 stars. I listened to the whole book in hopes that it would get better, but it never happened for me.The other problem was the narration by Milo Ventimiglia. His reading was probably one of worst narrations that I have ever heard. With unexpected stumbles and over exaggerated exclamation points, his reading sounds like that of a second grader. Listening to Milo during the dramatic or serious moments gave me the feeling of listening to a 9 yr old singing a love song.

This is a childrens type book. It is intertaining and keeps the attention. It is very well written and thought out. I like the premiss, the plot, and the flow. It sets up for more books in a series that I shall purchase. It is so short that i finished it in an afternoon so I'm not really into the charge of a whole credit, but I enjoyed the book.

I don't normally write reviews but this book forced me to. Did James Patterson even bother to read this book before endorsing it with his name. This was with out a doubt the worse book I ever read (or tried to, couldn't finish it!!)

I must have missed that this book is for teenagers.
This seems to be one of those books that Patterson lent his name to. I can't believe he wrote this. Don't waste your time, money, or credit on this one!

I bought this book thinking it was going to be like maximum ride books but it was totally different had a road trip with my kids ages 15, 11 and 8, 4 hrs long and we all liked it, it was somthing we can all enjoy my husband (34) and I (32) included some gross parts that my children loved but I was happy of no swear words and it made our trip seem like minutes instead of hours
