"Pretty good story"
I bought this book because I read that the Repairman Jack series is similar to Lee Child's series. Well, I can see the similarities, and looking forward to reading further books in the series (when Audible makes them available). I don't think the plot is as good as in lee Child's books, though. It became pretty clear how everything will turn out a few hours before the end of the book. Still, the action sequences are good and Repairman Jack character is quite appealing.
"Loved the story - the excitement and mystery"
Ienjoyed this book. It was my first F. Paul Wilson book and I am looking forward to getting the rest of the Repairman Jack series. Very exciting and moved well. Hurry Audible --- get the rest recorded! :)
"good fun read"
this is an enjoyable book with a gritty likable anti-hero as the lead character. Fun and fantastic twists and turns keeps you interested. Very good reading as well
"Definitely worth a listen"
A fascinating story in an unexpected setting???the author does a good job tying an old Hindu curse to modern day New York.
Even though some of the retrospective chapters might get a bit boring, there is enough action to keep the listener engaged and on edge.
It???s only a pity that the next stories in the series are not available on Audible, as I really wanted to listen to more of Repairman Jack???s adventures.
"Solid start to what looks to be a great series!"
Not sure how I missed this series, but glad a friend recommended it recently! Good story, well developed characters (that you can actually care about), and very well paced, never a dull moment! Won't give anything away, other than to say I give this book my highest recommendation! Also worthy of note is the excellent narration by Joe Barrett - he may be my favorite narrator now, very reminiscent of the late, great, Frank Muller - and that is the highest praise I could give any narrator! Can't wait to start the next book, though I see Mr. Barrett is not the narrator this time around, too bad - will be listening to some of his other work in the near future!
"Great read, kept me entertained!!!"
The most memorable moments of The Tomb was when Jack was on the ship getting vicki back.
YES!!!! This book was so good I couldnt fall asleep because I wanted to listen to more of the story.
This book is in the same caliber as the dresden files! And I loved the dresden files!
"Kept my ears wanting more!"
Great story, well written, fast paced, and characters I came to care about.
The plot, while fiction and rather "dark," was just realistic enough to be mesmerizing. I loved how over the course of the story we learn just enough about "Jack," to root for him when he needed it most! Jack is a "soft," "tough" guy -- as you listen to the story you'll understand this description of him better. I had never heard about this author or his series of books about Repairman Man Jack, by luck of the draw I decided to give this book a try. I assure you I will be listening to every one of his books in this series. I LOVED it.
This is my first time hearing of both this story and it's narrator Mr. Joe Barrett. Mr. Barrett is great and I think his performance contributed significantly to the "life" and "feel," of the characters and the overall story.
Repairman Jack is not for your ordinary tinkering: extraordinary repairs only need apply.
Loved this, will definitely listen to all the books related to Repairman Jack. I love this series as much as I did the "Oregon Files."

"Excellent listen, great characters, good reader"
Marlowe meets Dresden
The story had few lulls and those were necessary to flesh out the characters, I found myself wanting to warn the characters to be careful. It was fun to hear the banter between protagonist and antagonist and Wilson did not leave the "villain" 2 dimensional but gave us peeks of a man doing what he thought was right regardles of the consequences.
Joe Barrett did an excellent job in presenting Repariman Jack

"Relieved when it was over"
I downloaded this book because a review compared the main character to Jack Reacher, the hero in Lee Child's series. I want to set the record straight, in no possible way is this book and Lee Childs books in the same catagory, in no way is the hero of "The Tomb" comparable in any way to the Jack Reacher character, compared to the Lee Childs series this is a childrens book. Primary difference, Lee Child can write.
This book has the constant edge of sounding like a book written for a 2nd grade audience, the main character spends most of his time in a cluttered, small apartment drinking beer and watching old movies, there is no indication that he has aquired skills to make him dangerous beyond this. His "girlfriend" who he is estranged from is horrified that he owns a gun, -?- what world does this author live in, I mean, who dosn't own one anymore. This book is silly and fine for someone in junior high except for the sex scenes, and that, oh yeah, every beautiful woman this guy comes across wants to sleep with him.
I would recommend that you do not waste your time, this book was probably written in crayon.
