Jeremy Marsh is the ultimate young New Yorker. He's also an expert on debunking the supernatural. When he receives a letter from Boone Creek, North Carolina, about ghostly lights appearing in a cemetery, he can't resist driving down to investigate. Here, in this tightly knit community, Lexie Darnell runs the town's library. Disappointed by past relationships, she is sure of one thing: her future is in Boone Creek, close to all the people she loves. From the moment Jeremy sets eyes on Lexie, he is intrigued. And Lexie, while hesitating to trust this outsider, finds herself thinking of him more than she cares to admit.
Now, if they are to be together, Jeremy Marsh must do something he's never done before: take a giant leap of faith. A story about taking chances and following your heart, True Believer will make you, too, believe in the miracle of love.

"Smooth as silk, and gloriously sweet." (Publishers Weekly)
"Sparks is a modern master of fateful love stories and road-not-taken fables." (BookPage)
"Nicholas Sparks knows how to tug at a reader's heartstrings." (Chicago Sun-Times)
I finished this in two days, and two days later, I started listening to it again. I have read or listened to the majority of Nicholas Sparks' books, and this is one of the best! The plot it's self is a bit lacking, but the author makes up for it by how well the characters are written. I laughed in spots and was close to a tear in others. I would say this is a must read!
I usually enjoy Nicholas Sparks to the fullest. Yet this book was not my favorite. It was just alright. I think I was spoiled by many of his others. This book was a little slow and not as captivating. It was an ok read.
i loved this book. i listened to it while i was cleaning my room, and i completely forgot what i was doing, and just listened. it was amazing, because usually it takes me forever to clean my room. this book was so good. the character development was very, very good. i would, and have, recommend this book to people.
Being an avid Sparks listener, I with great anticipation downloaded this lastest title. The story line is blase at best. The narration leaves much to be desired. I can only hope that Mr. Sparks' next offering returns to his old style and format.
Nicholas Sparks is red-lining on the "Lifetime: Television for Women" one-dimensional scale. The characters are unlikeable and unremarkable. The interaction between Jeremy and Lexie is banal:
"I think about you a lot," said Jeremy.
"No, I think about YOU a lot said Lexie."
"You're a schmoopie." said Jeremy
"No YOU'RE a schmoopie." said Lexie.
Take your $20.99 and spend it on corn starch -- trust me, it will much more satisfying.
If you're a fan of very predictable love stories and if Audible lowered the price of this book to $5 or less I'd say go for it. I was disappointed by how predictable the story line was, and how quickly the author disposed of the supernatural aspect of the mysterious graveyard lights. I was hoping for more mystery entwined with a love story and this book just didn't deliver.
Ever see the movie "Doc Hollywood" with Michael J Fox? Well, True Believer is a play on that movie. The "city" guy comes to the "country" town... falls in love with the "country" girl and they try to figure out who moves so they can both be together. I felt like I was listening to the movie script. I was a bit disappointed. Sparks is generally a writer who I enjoy and keeps my interest. I DID enjoy the book.... but again, I felt like the storyline was similar and very predictable. It was an easy listen..... and it occupied me on the drive to/from work.
I have read all his books and I didn't think this one was as good as his others. Kind of dragged along. The ending was quite predictable.
This is a good book but not nearly as good as all of the rest he has written. I would still recommend this book. This is a very realistic fiction type book. Very believable.
