When strangers pursue Ramsey to his private meadow in an attempt to kill him and the girl, he's mystified that anyone would wish her harm. And the child can't shed any light on the subject: she's mute.
Molly Santera, the girl's mother, catches up with Ramsey and her daughter, mistaking her daughter's savior for a kidnapper. But soon Ramsey's real role becomes clear. With the strangers in pursuit, the trio flees to Chicago for sanctuary. Even there, however, the child's enemies prove as relentless as their motives are baffling.
With an unexpected assist from FBI agents Dillon Savich and Lacey Sherlock (last seen in The Maze), Molly and Ramsey begin to unravel the clues, and in the process they make an astonishing discovery as to the true nature of the target.
Listen to another FBI Thriller.

"Coulter, who doesn't stint on humor or romance, keeps readers guessing." (Booklist)
"A blend of romance, mystery, and excitement." (Fort Worth Daily Sun)
"The Target"
One of her best books. A lot of suspense. The reader takes away from the book slightly but otherwise an excellent read.
"Implausible story and trite plot"
Could not even finish this book... Were it not for some of the reference to child molestation, this book would seem more suited to teens than adults. It is simply unthinkable that the people in this book would conduct themselves as they do... a federal judge on sabbatical finds a brutalized child and decides not to contact the police or FBI.. just keeps her for a week.... Gets in a shootout... wounds two guys and is wounded himself...and still does not contact law enforcement.. And the readers sing-song cadence drove me crazy.. Could not even finish it!
"Narrator"
I am a fan of Catherine Coulter but I feel the book has been ruined by the narrator. The characters can't even be respected due to the poor reading of this book. I have felt this about all the books I have listened to of Catherine's. I guess it will be better if I just read her books.
"Very suspenseful"
This is one of Catherine's better books. The suspense is great. The story take a few twists to keep you guessing. I thought I had it figured out several times along the way, only to find out I was wrong. Great character development. It's hard to stop listening.
"Loved it"
Keeps you thinking
I liked the different twists and turns the book takes. It might confuse some ppl but I thought it was great. The Narator was pretty good. I'm partial to Susan Erickson though.
Ramsey
Yeah I didn't want to stop listening.
I would definitely recommend this book.

"Loved it"
Up there in the top 10 I enjoy it glad I did not let reviews change my mind about. Purchasing it
Emma was one of my favorite
Yes
I enjoyed the story and all it's char
"Enjoyed"
The Target was a great story. It got a bit long in some parts but all in all the story line was great. There was suspense, romance, character building and a semi-surprise ending. Although not my favorite in the series, I would not bypass it.
"Great"
I have listen to this book 3 times and have enjoyed it each time. I love the strong mother figure and how she takes care of things on her own. The Judge is a nice balance as an appropriate father figure. The only thing that I would have changed was the fact that they married with out the Judge every saying I love you out loud.
"Worst book ever"
I'm about 2/3 into this book and I can't do anymore. The characters are ridiculous, make unbelievable decisions, ho-hum I got shot in the leg. Nobody does the right thing, even when they are federal judges and decide that he's just going to keep a little girt that needs serious help. I started to think this book might be for young readers because the language is quite juvenile. I've never read anything by Coulter before, and I won't waste my money again. I just kept saying out loud, "What? You've got to be kidding". It's a good plot, but totally unrealistic. Really, really bad book.

"I enjoyed it"
I liked this book. The story was a good one and Ms Coulter consistantly writes her stories well. This is one of them. The reader was very good. I would definately recomend this to my friends.
