Critically acclaimed memoirist Wade Rouse has gathered some of America's best known humorists - authors, comedians, and actors - to offer biting commentary on what it means to share a life, and a heart, with a dog. From battling for bed space to trying to transform a pampered NYC pup into a Texas rawhide, and from helping a shelter rescue navigate through her new life to interpreting dog-run dynamics (and politics), being a canine companion has challenges as tough as any agility course. But laughter is just a tail-wag away.
This collection features uncanny insight and witty prose from:

"Dogs are, indeed, our best friends. This book celebrates the special - and often hilarious - bonds that develop between us. It will make you laugh, and touch your heart!" (Wayne Pacelle, President and CEO, The Humane Society of the United States)
"Made for Smiling"
I will listen to the book again. This set of stories made me smile from the opening word until the final conclusion. Delightful, touchy, fiesty, and relevant to all dog lovers. What a fun way to spend a drive in the car!
Beth Harrbison's story.
All of the short stories are equally delightful.

"Mildly entertaining"
These stories were enjoyable enough but the narrative voices were too stylized for me. I would have preferred more natural reading voices. They sounded like commercial vocal actors and it was highly annoying, but then I dislike 'announcer' type vocals.
The stories themselves were mostly very good, with only a couple mediocre ones, but still, anyone who loves dogs or is perhaps even thinking of getting a dog would enjoy this book overall.
