London, 1822
Impoverished Julian Parker returns to London with one goal: marry an heiress. He'll do whatever it takes, even if it means denying his desire for men. After all, with a fortune comes happiness and social acceptance - which have eluded Julian his entire life.
The only things a vast fortune has brought Oscar Woodhaven are greedy relatives and loneliness. At 21 years of age, he has everything a man could possibly want—except someone to love him. When he meets devastatingly handsome Julian Parker, he believes his luck has turned.
Between Oscar's lavish gifts and their searing-hot nights, Julian is caught between what he thinks he needs and what his heart truly desires. But when a betrayal threatens to tear them apart, Julian discovers he'll do whatever it takes to convince Oscar the greatest fortune of all is love.

As for Act Two, working through that conflict…I have a few issues. First of all, there isn’t really an Act Two – it’s basically just a time shift. Second, the length of this time shift, during which the relationship is on standby, seems a bit too long for me for people to keep all that emotion on “simmer”, and too short to produce a radical change in accent (which the narrator does very well, by the way – doing different accents is already a skill, but mixing two accents in the same sentence from one speaker and still having it sound natural is kinda “wow!”).
And then there’s Act Three. As I mentioned, the Inevitable Conflict was pretty major, so I was curious how the conversation would go between the two central characters. I really wondered how they were going to patch this rift. I liked the dialog, satisfying, good resolution to the conflict, but then…poof! It was over. I was hoping for a bit more.
Nevertheless, this trilogy is a series of “short and sweet” stories. I get that. So parts of the story will necessarily be somewhat abridged. However, the whole “feel good” part, the HEA-part, left me wanting a bit. Would have liked to bask in it a bit more.
Romance with HEA, but ended abruptly

Good but unsatisfying ending sort of a cliffhanger
