Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

When I announced that I was listening to a story with the title, "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter," my friends looked at me like I'd lost my mind. Like them, I was skeptical at first but the sheer laugh factor of the title was enough to spark my curiosity.

Having finished the book I can happily say that this was one of the most interesting stories I've listened to in a long time. The mixture of fact and fiction is flawless, so much so that I found myself taking the story to heart in places. A worthy spin on an already extraordinary life, I highly recommend it.

I thought the book was absolutely awesome, with excellent narration. The blend of fiction and non-fiction was well done. An interesting spin on historical events, places, and people. I could hardly press the pause button. Of course, i have been an avid reader of books on Lincoln and the Civil War and have recently begun to enjoy vampire tales such as "True Blood", so combining these two was as natural for me as it seems to have been for the author. I definitely recommend this book.

I was intrigued by the title and didn't know what to expect, but I enjoyed this book very much. It was an entertaining mix of historical fact and vampire fiction. I also enjoyed Scott Holst's narration.
This is just a fun book, I highly recommend it.

I had heard a lot about this novel and I was looking forward to seeing what the fuss was all about.

It was very well done, with a great narrator. I give the author a lot of credit to weave a fascinating story into the historical events we know.

Seriously the COOLEST novel I have came across in a long time. Who doesn't love Lincoln and a good bloody vampire war? (I'm referring to REAL vampires, not the kind that sparkle in sunlight...)
The way the author weaves vampires, slavery, politics and war together is absolutely brilliant! This book is actually believable, which makes it more realistic and easy to imagine.
DO NOT WAIT, start this book today!

This is a great book. Very hard to put down and well read. I personally did not find it in the least bit dull as others have mentioned and therefore recommend this book. I also liked the way the author combined actual history with fiction. Buy it.

Simply put, it's like an Abraham Lincoln biography with some vampire hunting thrown in to keep it interesting.

I would recommend it to anyone with an interest in history.

It is a very well written book. I am not a history buff, but I ended up learning quiet a bit about Abraham Lincoln's life that book supposedly is very accurate (other than the vampire stuff). It would be a good way to get someone into history as well.

That aside, I found myself absorbed into the book, and I really felt for the characters. Use of language is also very enjoyable that one would believe that Abraham Lincoln would probably speak in such fashion. I felt for his loss, his triumphed and his struggles.

Vampire fiction does not overshadow the book, but it is there just enough to keep things entertaining.

Narrator did a great job and kept it very entertaining.

I highly recommend this book.

Having listened to the entire audiobook, I can easily recommend this book. In my opinion, I would have preferred more detailed action when Abe would go hunting for some blood-suckers, but still a great listen none-the-less. The story uses facts with fiction in such a way that it just makes perfect sense... As if it could have happened in reality. Starts off a little slow but be patient.. you won't regret it.

While I did like the way he wove history with fantasy, it was kind of dry and if I had been reading I probably would have stopped in the middle - I'm not that strong a reader anyway, and that's why I love audio.
He got the essential elements correct, history, manner of speaking and writing for the times and all that. Perhaps that is why I thought it rather dry.
All that said, it is clever and worth a look for those who love the time period of history and vampire stories.
