"The features are witty and smart, well-written and produced, and the ideas and insights are often surprising." (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette)
"I regard it not just as the very best arts program on radio but as the best radio talk show, period." (Michael Kimmelman, Chief Art Critic of The New York Times)
"This is great radio." (The 2004 Peabody Awards Board, on Studio 360's award-winning "Moby Dick" episode)
"Stimulating and Diverse - always interesting"
Studio 360 is a superb NPR show that takes topics (ranging from fish, patronage, toys, gardens to name a few) and gives diverse stories and interviews on related artists, movements and history that create great insight into the mind and world of artists and great thinkers.
It may sound high brow, but the host, Kurt Anderson, gives this show a sensible feeling and it all becomes fascinating listening. Another great benefit is a companion web site that gives visual examples of the artists and subjects so you don't have to travel to every museum around the world or remain in the dark. This show makes art and the world of the artist more accessible and engaging.
"Great for the generalist"
Takes abstract topics and explores them along a smart and entertaining interdisciplinary path. Inspires new ideas and ways of understanding our world.
"STUDIO 360 - why I am renewing my membership!"
I just love this program. The range of interests is fascinating. Kurt Andersen is great! I look forward to receiving this each week. It's so nice to have a program that focus on the arts! Thanks Kurt!
"Too much politics, not enough film and theater"
This perodical focuses mostly on music and art and almost always spins its own right wing ideologies, calling Michael Moore a "daft mockery of a liberal nut filmaker" for instance. I have no problem with politics but please keep them out of what should be an informative discussion of what's new in the creative world. What audible really needs is entertainment weekly or premier or vanity fair. Unfortunately until they wise up and get something of that nature those of us who want to track entertainment news will find ourselves belittled by this weak commentary.
"Some interesting topics but a dry at times"
A good subscription choice with a main topic divided in to 2 or 3 separate sections. This one was not really of much interest to me because of some of the subjects being discussed but it is a quality program.
"A favorite brain kick start!"
Perfect length for a drive that really gives your brain a kick start. Intelectually engagine without loosing the ability to entertain. Great tidbits to fuel interesting conversation as well.
