      What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

      The audio files were nothing more than the audio from the TV broadcast. On a TV broadcast, the audio is designed to compliment the visual images (and vice versa). Without the accompanying visual images, the audio is quite awkward at times. You have long pauses, non-descriptive narration, minimal details, etc. These files are like watching a TV show with your eyes closed, and that's not what an audio book is supposed to be like. Additionally, the book had some factual errors that even amateur historians will quickly notice.


      Would you ever listen to anything by The History Channel again?

      Possibly, but not if the audio book is simply the audio from the TV show.


      Would you be willing to try another one of the narrator’s performances?

      Yes.

      Avoid this book. Just watch the TV show, and choose a better book from Audible.com.
