The Jesus Storybook Bible: Every Story Whispers His Name

I could probably have written a review before having downloaded this book just based on the fact that we own the hard copy of this book. This is the BEST children's Bible I've seen yet! After listening to the sample audio I knew my son would LOVE this download and I was right. This is a winner!

My daughter (5) loves this Bible and she will sit and listen to this for a long, long time. This is a great thing to buy.

Our family just loves this book. What an amazingly written book about the true meaning of God's word. It is great for kids and adults alike to grasp why God created us and why he sent his son to die for us. I didn't think we could love the book more than we did when we read it ourselves. I was thrilled to see the reader on this since he is one of our favorite actors on PBS. He does an amazing job bringing this to life!! My daughter lays in bed at night and listens to it on her Kindle. No better way to fall asleep than hearing God's word!

The way he makes it come to life!!

This is an exceptional book for children from ages 4 to 10 or 12. It was written with such love, and read with such tenderness, that the listener is drawn into it like wrapping oneself in a warm towel. Rarely have I heard the kind of heart that this book contains, and my 3 kids love it! We listen to books in the car every day (literally) and this is always the one they ask for first.

I like the fact that the theology is solid. Yes, the author imagines some aspects of daily life and inserts some dialog, but nothing that is counter to authentic Scripture. The important points of each biography are included, true to Scripture. And the author ties each chapter to the overarching message of the Bible, Jesus' creation of man, His love for us, and His salvation of us.

Suchet is clearly a gifted actor, but he's more. He takes his time with this reading, which allows the child to drink it in, savor it, and make discoveries in her own mind as she reads it. He lets it breathe, which makes it come to life. He does all this without plodding or "talking down" to the listener. And he obviously loves God, which makes his tender yet vibrant performance authentic.

I would not listen to it in one sitting. There is a lot to think about between stories. Time must be given for God to speak to children's tender hearts, without rushing to the next chapter.

We have this both as a book and an audiobook and I highly recomend both. The audio version is beatifully read and absolutely striking. It is read so well that you don't even miss the illustrations (which in the paper version are utterly delighttful too).

This audio book is so wonderful in how it relates God's love to children. Not only is the content lovely in how it speaks on a child's level, the narrator really captures the spirit beautifully in how he reads the story. I sit and listen to it and feel ministered to as well, it just keeps things so simple, portraying God's unconditional love!! An absolute must, gifted it to all my friends with kids!

Wonderfully performed and the stories are soothig. The stories stay true to the Bible. It is so nice to see my children so engaged in the stories.We usually have great conversations about the stories. Bedtime is a joy because they fall asleep listening to the stories.

It's very soothing for not just children but for adults as well.

You won't regret this purchase.

The sample sold me on this one. I mean the performance was just captivating, and I loved the perspective of this children's Bible- that everything points to his name even making that connection with the old testament stories. However, the Bible is just a tough one, I mean creating a version that will appeal to all the differing Christian religions that use it (I myself am from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Saints- aka Mormon) is almost impossible.

What I like about it is that it is a LONG book, meaning it has a lot of stories that other children's Bible's omit, and each story is developed with characters instead of just presenting a bland summary in one paragraph. It is written and read in an absolutly captivating way.

However, sure enough there are parts of this Bible that are inaccurate in my view and even a bit irreverent, so I did return it. I decided instead to just stick with the paper version. No my boy won't be listening to it as he falls asleep at night as I'd like, but if I"m reading the paper version I can edit as I go. I still think it's a great introduction to Bible stories for kids.

I do recommend this book for those who are less rigid in their Bible interpretations.

This is written as a children's book and it's wonderful as such. My 5 and 8 year old love it! After listening through the audio several times, I purchased the paper version so that we could read it together in the evenings. And to be honest, I feel I am getting as much out of it as my children! Sally Lloyd-Jones has beautifully crafted every word and clearly lays out how truly every book and every story in the entire Bible points us to the Saviour. God's plan from the beginning of time is brought out in such an easy-to-understand light that while my children are learning from it, my own faith has also been increased.

I whole-heartedly recommend both this audio version and the paper version. Every family ought to own them!
