The Complete Idiot's Guide to German, Level 1

If you're looking at this program because the title implies that this program is easy and lots of fun, look elsewhere! I was expecting a light delivery, humorous anecdotes and mnenomics. Instead I found this to be one of the dryest and fastest paced programs I've ever heard.

This book is better for someone who already knows a good deal of german and wants a rapid fire review. Or if you find programs that pause so you can repeat or guess the phrases annoying, you may like this format. But if you're like me and need to really think through and repeat a phrase for it to sink in - you'll be left in the dust with this program. I must admit that the downloadable .pdf file is a nice feature. My guess is that this program was designed for print, and squeezed into an audio format as an after thought.

I consider this book to be a bit too difficult for complete beginners but it can be very useful for those who already have some understanding of German language and want to refresh a little bit the basics. I learned German for 4 months a few years ago but by the time I bought this course I did not remember much of it. This course gave me a chance to refresh what I learned a long time ago. Plus the vocabulary with all the dialogues and words written down helps a lot!

I like that it includes a downloadable PDF file to read.

This works like Pimsleur, with dialogues. I would like it to be a lot longer though.
