Publisher's Summary

Hannah Griffin was a girl when tragedy struck on her family's farm. She still remembers the flames reflected against the newly fallen snow and the bodies the police dug up—one of them her mother's. It was the nation's worst murder scene in decades, and the killer was never found.

Two decades later, Hannah is a CSI investigating a case of child abuse when the past comes hurtling back. Years of buried questions are brought to life. A killer with unfinished business is on the hunt. And an anonymous message turns Hannah's blood cold: "Your Mom called...."

What the Critics Say

"Olsen's flashback narrative shines with lurid, carefully distributed details, and if it ultimately overshadows the present-day plot, his bizarre, many-layered mystery will keep fans of crime fiction hooked." (Publishers Weekly)

    "A Wicked Snow"

Hannah Griffin is a social worker with a caseload involving children neglected or abused by families. One day she receives a package at her office addressed to her as Hannah Logan Griffin. She is terrified, because she has not used her maiden name Logan for over 20 years and she didn’t know how anyone traced the name to her. When Hannah was a teenager, a fire took place on her family farm which killed her two brothers, and allegedly her mother. Hannah had done her best not to remember her past. Now, someone was forcing her to revisit her past. Hannah had never allowed the full impact of the horror of that night to take hold, so now memories began to surface. Hannah decides that she will not be able to rest until she determines what happened twenty years ago, and whether or not her mother died that night or is still alive. A very good book, action-packed with several twists and turns. This is a new author for me, but I will definitely read more books by him.

"Loved the book, hated the 'ending' spoiler alert"

This book came highly recommended by someone who was currently reading it and was enjoying it very much. I too loved the book. At first. It's hard to find a book where you truly feel invested in all the characters. I thought the heroine was brave, smart, determined and wanted her to find her resolution in the end. Only the ending was a huge let down. I felt like I wasted all those hours waiting to find out what would happen when she finally found and confronted her murderous mom, but that resolution never came. The book was exciting all the way through and then just fizzled out and faded away. I know that in life there sometimes just isn't closure or resolutions, but that's why I read books. I expect a beginning and middle, and an end, but it just felt like the book was cut off. All of a sudden it was just over. Definitely disappointed after such a great read.
