Three Sisters: Blackberry Island, Book 2

Susan Mallery books are among my favorites reads (listens). But if you're expecting the same tone as the Fool's Gold series you might be disappointed. I really liked the characters in this book (though not in the first book of the series) and was so involved I found myself crying all the time. That's the difference - there is a heavier or more serious tone to this book. Reminded me of Kristan Higgins' books.

This book has it all. From one extreme emotion to the next. Any woman cant help but to identfy with one of the women from this story. I know for me it covers alot of the thoughts that mothers ( esp young mothers) think and are either told not to talk about or feel ashamed that they felt that way. Brings to light that HEY I am not the only one who may feel like this.......
I think it is a must read for any woman in a relationship, trying for a new one, or is just a mother who feels like she has to fix the world for her family and the issues with being the savior so to speak. Dont forget to grab the tissues this book will make you cry and normaly I am not a cryer lol.

This book is less dramatic, more daily issues. It isn't some overdone sappy story about heartbreak with too many details to make it realistic. It's ups and downs, happy and sad where you feel for the characters. Three very different characters. It made me want to laugh and then cry as you journey through three families, three very different people, three lives all wound together. A must read.

The fact that it was the story of three different women whom became best friends despite the first impression and the gossip about Deanna.

I'm not sure this was the first time I read/listened to a book with a story line like this.

There were not any profound moments. Her voice was smooth and the words easily flowed.

Yes there were two, the first was when Deanna called Annie because she realized she need professional help with her OCD and the mental abuse she suffered as a child from her mom. The second was when Boston was finally able to cry and release the pain she suffered stemming from the death of her infant son.

This was a really good listen. I would buy the other books in the series.

I don't know if I would recommend as an audio book as I did not like the narrator but I did like the story. This was a great story about learning not to judge a book by its cover. In this story we have three women who live in historic houses that set next to each other, call The Three Sisters. As the women get to know each other they see that they each have issues and their own "skeletons" they are dealing with. The 3 women's friendship grows as they learn to see each other in a different light.

no, I really didn't care for her voice and really didn't like her men's voices.....she sounded more like a 3 pack a day 90 year old smoker.
