When Cheryl and her fiancé, a soldier who has just gotten back from Afghanistan, are on their way back to Denver after a reunion camping trip in the mountains, she hears that an epidemic has spread like wildfire. She has no idea that just a few hours later her life will be threatened by hoards of "Eaters", the infected whose lust for rotten food quickly turns to an insatiable desire for human flesh once their corpses are reanimated.
Cheryl witnesses the best and worst of human nature as she and a group of refugees struggle to stay alive. What will she have to do to survive in this new dark world?

"Not worth the credit"
I purchased this book hoping for a great story. I've listen to many zombie books, first one by accident, and have more or less enjoyed the plot. This book seems to be written without any sequential planning, the main character lacks common sense, zombies appear and disappear without warning, the whole thing is like a circus. The narrator is trying to "keep the book alive" but is impossible. I spent the first three hours of listening trying to "get somewhere", hoping for something, three hours later the book turned into a zombie, I had to "delete" it to avoid further damage.
"First Zombie book I skipped to the end"
This book focus way too much on the details of the chase. I know a girl being chased down by monsters, constaintly may sound suspense full but after the fourth time you realize that it is most unlikely that the main character will be killed. So you end up just listening to the author as she writes about how inch by inch the Zombie moves towards the main character.
The story lacks a basic flow or a steady process. Even choas can be described in a orderly fashion. This would just happen without any real explaination or rational, which caused me to question the thought process of this story. There were times when the Zombies would just appear for no reason other then to give the reader a sense of drama. Lets take for example when they were in the ISOLATED cabin in the woods. It only took a day and there were around a hundred of zombies at their place trying to get to them. That does not make sense and seems more like a plot hole.
I am waiting for the last book in the Morningstar Strain series to go autobook.
Jane did fine, it is not her fault that the book is under par.
The main character.
"WTG - I really enjoyed this book"
I have to say - I was a bit skeptical - but I listened to this in a day and a half while at work, this is a great novel, her desriptions of the eaters in certain situations, I could really picture it - its not the every day Zombie Blood Gore book, but seriously - very well thought out, very descriptive and realistic to a point!! WTG Ms. DePaepe - I look forward to book 2 - hopefully
