Zoey is finally home where she belongs, safe with her Guardian Warrior, Stark, by her side, and preparing to face off against Neferet - which would be a whole lot easier if the High Counsel saw the ex-High Priestess for what she really is. Kalona has released his hold on Rephaim, and, through Nyx's gift of a human form, Rephaim and Stevie Rae are finally able to be together - if he can truly walk the path of the Goddess and stay free of his father's shadow.
But there are new forces at work at the House of Night. An influx of humans, including Lenobia’s handsome horse whisperer, threatens their precarious stability. And then there’s the mysterious Aurox, a jaw-droppingly gorgeous teen boy who is actually more - or possibly less - than human. Only Neferet knows he was created to be her greatest weapon. But Zoey can sense the part of his soul that remains human, the compassion that wars with his Dark calling. And there’s something strangely familiar about him….
Will Neferet’s true nature be revealed before she succeeds in silencing them all? And will Zoey be able to touch Aurox’s humanity in time to protect him - and everyone - from his own fate? Find out what’s destined in the next thrilling chapter of the House of Night series.

"Destined to keep you guessing..."
Sometimes cliff hangers are a real pain & sometimes they are used appropriately. After reading Destined, you'll see that the latter is true for this book. Even though the 1st books in this series were the best, I like the way the story is forming & I can *gasp* see a possible end in sight! Then hopefully all of my cliff hanger questions will be answered. The narrator to these books is not my favorite, mainly because of how long it takes certain characters to complete a sentence but other than that it was a good book. I would say its probably worthy to take up space on the "2nd shelf" of your wishlist.
"Destined to make us wait for the other three"
I want to start by saying I Love this series!!
However, had I known that they were going to go through four narrarators whom do not sound the same. Go from a six book series to twelve I would have never bought these on audible.
This series is so fast paced you can't get bored! If you haven't read from the beginning you will be lost. A lot of authors put so much back story into sequals you feel as if you don't need to read them to know what's going on. Not in this series. One book will end and the next picks up the next day and if you don't remember you may need to go back and catch back up in between release dates.
I feel as all of these books are good in their own right. Destined is no different.
It's a great short story. I think this one is just better read and not listened too. The narrarator has voiced the last three books I believe. In this book it's hard to decipher her voices to the characters. I believe the first book she narrorated she tried to sound more like the past narrorators with individual voices to the characters. This time she got lazy in parts and you cannot decipher which character you are listening too. That was awful.
I don't think you can describe the book without giving too much away. But, if you are a fan of the series.....do not give up. We only have to wait for three more books to finally come to a conclusion. As with all of the others, things are changing again and there are a few new characters added and a death as well. And of course it ends right when you think something good can finally happen for the gang.
Nerdgirl who love to read and listen during a nasty 2 hour daily commute. Mostly listen to intelligent stories to escape road rage - love supernaturals, PNR, and some fantasy/sci-fi.
"Atrocious narrator"
I would not listen to Destined again. The language was awful - I get that it is supposed to be teens and they don't have the most sophisticated language but come on. Kramisha is the absolute worst - the narrator made her sound like an uneducated pre-Civil War slave. Just knock it off already. I cringed every time she spoke. I think the writers were shooting for a person with hip hop vibe but she just sounded like an idiot. Instead of sounding fresh and relevant to today's pop culture - she sounded stupid and uneducated. Another one that annoyed me by sounding vulgar and uneducated was Aphrodite. Her dark wit in prior books was funny but grated on me throughout this book. Her use of
I keep coming back for the characters and because I want to know how things turn out. I like the story but agree with many reviewers who want some closure on old storylines and fresh content instead of the same old recycled crap.
The performance could have been better with a different narrator. Caitlin Davies is awful in this series. The original narrator was the best out of all of them. At the very least the director should have all narrators pronounce the names the same way. Pick one pronunciation and STICK with it.
No way I could listen to this straight through. I had to keep taking breaks because the narrator was bugging me so much.
"Loosing interest"
well the story have slowly been getting less interesting over the last couple of books...
probably because it's been getting more predictable as P.C. Cast have lock herself into several storylines and now she doesn't feel like starting others till these are finishing up...
unfourtunately i saw it coming from about the middle of the books
unfourtunately i've listened to a different narrator of previous books in the series which means this just isn't the same
not really...
not anything i didn't start thinking from the previous books atleast...
good entertainment for the money and i wouldn't stop reading the series even though it's slowed down with this one...
"This one does not disappoint."
I was a little disappointed with the last book, but this one totally makes up for it. I can't say anymore or I will give too much away!!
"Loved It!"
It was worth the wait! The only bad thing is that I have to wait a year for the next book! This book had me crying and biting my nails with anticipation. I loved it! It leaves you hanging and eagerly waiting on the next book in the series.
"Need more!"
Enjoyed very much. Can't wait to hear the next book.. thanks you for the enjoyable listening while I drive..
"Loved it!!"
I was so excited to read the new House of Night book and i was not disappointed.
I love to read!
"Great continuation!"
Zoey's story continues...along with other plot twists and (former) minor characters develop into characters who will definitely play major roles in the continuing saga. I've heard that there will be a (possible) total of 15 books in this series. So...we'll all have to hang in there, because the end is apparently not in sight.
"Still Liking House of Night!"
Yes. Love Stevie Rae's voice!
There were many. And I am not the biggest fan of this series, but this book in particular really kept me interested. When Rafeen's brothers came to talk with him and one was killed was shocking, Dragon's extreme sadness and then his death and reuinting with his mate, Kalona's change of heart.
I have not.
No, but I did like this book better than the 3-4 previous in the same story. This one did not drag along - it stayed interesting and I really appreciated the less "twin" thing. That drove me nuts. I have stuck with the series because I like paranormal romance and I really like the stories aimed at young adults because they are less sexual and violent. I did not read the last book, but was still able to pick up the storyline from the one before.
