This week, Krista speaks with Matthieu Ricard. He's a French-born, Tibetan Buddhist monk and cell biologist who is a central figure in the Dalai Lama's ongoing dialogues with scientists. Krista sat down with him a couple of years ago at a gathering in Vancouver, Canada that was headlined by the Dalai Lama. Some neuroscientists dubbed Matthieu Ricard "the happiest man in the world" after they imaged his brain. He resists this label, but nevertheless has provocative ideas about the fundamental nature and experience of happiness. For Ricard, happiness is a way of being that gives us the resources to deal with the ups and downs of life. He offers practical teachings for cultivating the inner strength, joy, and direction that comprise the essential building blocks of a happy disposition. [Broadcast Date: October 27, 2011
