Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi: Allies

So far I think this is the best of this series of Star Wars books. a good story, although none of the books in the expanded universe have captured the magic of the original Star Wars trilogy. But I admit that I am probably biased about that.

What makes this particular series of Star Wars novels such fun to listen to is the narrator. Marc Thompson is fantastic. He really sounds like he has studied these characters. Luke Skywalker sounds like Luke, Han Solo sounds like Han. Thompson's impressions of alien characters is superb. I have been looking forward to each book for the narrator as much as the story itself.

It can be a little confusing, since the synopsis provided (Luke/Ben + Sith) isn't the only story going on here. Multiple, unconnected storylines about Jedi, slavery, media bias, romance and political scheming by dozens of characters on multiple planets make for a jumble. There are also a lot of references to past events which are not fully explained, so one can't just pick this up without being a little put off by the backstory one should have already read. Still a decent piece of work, tho.

If you are or ever were a fan of Star Wars,you will want to read this series.My only regret is that I started the series when there were already 3 books out so I was able to listen to one after the other,and now I have to wait for the new releases. Also if you haven't read legacy series first do yourself a favor and do so.

The Jedi/Sith alliance tested against Abeloth battle was the highlight. There was a very long build to get to the most interesting part of the story.

I thought there would have been more interaction/confrontation with Luke, Ben and the Sith.

Marc Thompson's Luke voice is pretty good, but his Ben Skywalker voice was kind of irritating. While reading another one of these stories I wouldn't have imagined Luke's son to sound annoying, kind of bratty.

Not really. There are so many good Star Wars stories out there. This one didn't strike me as one of the best.

I picked up this one after I finished Darth Plagueis. It was a tough act to follow. Everything about the Plagueis audio book was intense and vivid. An amazing story. This one seemed campy in comparison. It got me through the last leg of my road trip and last hour or 2 were pretty cool.

This is where the story of Fate of the Jedi really picks up! No more seemingly random side-stories! It is a very intense story and is my favorite Star Wars so far!

Vestara Khai. She reminds me so much of Mara Jade. I love how Golden portrays the character here. I don't want to ruin anything, but I think she will be the most important character in this series. I can't wait to see how her story turns out.

Hmmm. I liked the way Thompson portrays Ben. He really gets the whole adolescent thing. I also, strangely, like the minor character Wynn Dorvan. There is a twist with that character in this book and I loved how it was done.

"This is when everything changes" or something along those lines, cause this seems to be the pinnacle point in the series.

Fantastic book. LOVE IT! I can't wait for the next one!

a wonderful expansion on the star wars universe! i loved the new characters introduced and dramatic climax.

I loved this story. I was a tribute to the best of the star wars fans' imaginations. I can hardly wait to hear the rest of the series.

The fact that this is unabridged makes it even better. To me, the abridged novels take away from the story.
I wont rave about most Star Wars series however, this series has been a pleasant surprise. Enjoy!

Most of this series has been pretty boring, especially Backlash. I did like Omen though, and this is better. I think Golden is by far the best author in this series. She is making me actually enjoy a Legacy era Star Wars book.
