Wedding fever has come to Bon Temps, Louisiana! Unfortunately, buxom, blonde, beautiful, and telepathic cocktail waitress Sookie is not the bride-to-be, so she takes the opportunity to travel to New Orleans on family business. As heir to the estate of her newly dead cousin Hadley, Sookie unearths a big secret. Soon it becomes clear that more than a few people will do anything to stop Sookie from looking into Hadley's past. Fresh, fashionable, and a little bit frightening, Definitely Dead is the best entry yet in an endlessly entertaining series.

"Harris keeps the action going nonstop in this bubbly brew of supernatural spice and whimsical whodunit that's more fun than a barrel of beignets." (Publishers Weekly)
"More is revealed"
Another great Sookie Stackhouse book. Some interesting things are revealed in this book pertaining to Sookie's relationship with Bill and Eric. The first part of the book was a little slow but it made up for it in the second half which was non-stop suspense and intrigue. Quinn has grown on me some in this book and Sookie is getting tougher.
"A Series You Can't Miss"
Sookie Stackhouse Series is a MUST read! I have listened/read all of the Sookie Stackhouse mysteries, 1 - 8. I enjoyed every single one of them. The writing is good, clear, suspenseful and humorous. The narrator, Johanna Parker, does some of the best narrating I have heard...exactly the way I would presume Sookie Stackhouse would sound. You can't go wrong with this series. I CAN'T WAIT until installment NINE!!
"Thank you Ms Parker"
I've read & loved this series from the beginning & have enjoyed the development of Sookie from a fairly naive barmaid to a more street-savvy person. In this book, her smarts are quite apparent but so is her wide-eyed, small-town persona.
Johanna Parker's rendition of Sookie in this story as well as "Dead as a Doornail" is absolutely perfect. It is exactly as I imagined her to sound when I read the previous books. Ms Parker's voices for the other characters are also very good.
For me, this was thoroughly enjoyable translation from paper to voice. I look forward to listening to the next one.
"Just a fun adventure"
I enjoyed True Blood on HBO so while listening to this book I can see the characters in my mind. Its a fun ( very dark at times ) adventure of Sookie and her strange friends. A+. I am a Man over 40 and a Fan of Dark Shadows. If you like DS you will like this.
"least favorite sookie book so far"
Kind of lame. Kept my attention but not as much fun as previous 5 books. But I'm hooked, on to book 7, can't stop now!
"Quinn is back!"
Quinn is awesome.
The most memorable moment on Definitely Dead was probably the meeting between Quinn, Sookie, and the Weres in the bar.
Her sexy, musical, lilting voice with an awesome accent.
Yes, but I couldn't because I save listening to these books for my time in the office.
If you could be any kind of Were wouldn't you want to be a were-tiger? Yeah, you would. Then you'd be a tiger once a month!
"Love these books!!!"
Yes....I think just about anyone would enjoy these books.
Any of the other Charlaine Harris books.
Yes..as with all the Sookie books she does a great job.
Yes I would've loved to just didn't have the time.
I Love a great supernatural tale, a Love story, PNR, a Cool Mystery and Most Sci-Fi....if there are vampires, weres or witches in it, that's a plus! Basically I am a 40+ y/o young at heart woman rediscovering the wonderful world of books and am now addicted! Lol I LOVE AUDIBLE!!!!!
"Really enjoyed this one!!!"
Always is!
there is really no comparison, but it does fall in the same genre as the Rachel Hollows series by Kim Harrison, which is really great also!!!
She is a really good Sookie...and her accent was back in full swing...so it was perfect!!!
Witches, Weres and Vampires...Oh My!
I really enjoy this series and will be moving on to #7 shortly, I can not wait to hear more about Sookie and her new boyfriend...and the Vampire conference...its going to be great I am sure!!!!

"Enjoyable"
If you are looking for deep reading you will need to go elsewhere. There's drama, intrigue, romance, and of course all the supernatural creatures you can imagine.
I wanted to listen to the next book as soon as I finished one. I like Charlaine Harris, and I like all the characters. It's interesting reading these after watching the True Blood shows. There have definitely been some changes in the show, the books are only from Sookie's viewpoint, so the show would have to be different to show the other people's view points. Well done.

"I LOVE THIS WHOLE SERIES!!!!!!!!!"
This series is incredibly addictive and fun. It's funny, complex, sexy, and the character of Sookie is so real. I just don't know how to give enough information to explain why it was so great. It's like that song you just love so much and yes you know you like each thing about it, but the way they all go together is just perfect. I was sad when I finished the last one. I WANT MORE!!!!!
