Catch Me If You Can

This is very entertaining title and Barry Whitener does an incredible job narrating. Barry does the voices and acting so well you forget there's only one person performing.

I enjoyed this book immensly. Mr. Abignale Weaves a wonderful story that traces his life as a brilliant "paper hanger." I learned some things I never knew. His ability to create relationships and trust is truly amazing. He has a very keen mind and it was a pleasure to watch it work. The only problem I had with the book was a premature ending. I was left hanging.

Catch Me If You Can, made into a movie a few years ago with Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks, was my first introduction to the story of Frank Abagnale, Jr. This is "truth is stranger than fiction" at its finest and one of my most enjoyable listens from audible. My only problem with it is the ending. Spoilled by the movie, which details his time with the FBI and then, in the ending credits, talks about his subsequent consulting work helping combat check fraud for banks and businesses, the audio book doesn't get into any of that, but ends very abruptly - like many of Abagnale's alter-ego lives. Still very enjoyable and highly recommended with very good narration.

Breezy, fascinating story of an amoral teenager duping the adult world and enjoying *almost* every moment of it. (The French prison portion is harrowing.) No surprise: better than the movie. Reader is excellent. Well worth it.

This book does a great job telling the story of how this young con man swindled millions of dollars from hotels and banks during a multi-year escapade through the US and Europe. After reading about Abagnale's prison life in France, that's one country where you should not break the law.

I enjoyed the stories of Abagnale's exploits and learned much about the formerly lax security in the airline, banking and medical industries. My only difficulty was the dated language. It was clear the book was written primarily in the '70s, with its references to "chicks" and "swinging parties". If you can get past that, it's a terrific story.

Of course, the successful film brought this book (20+ years old) back into print and its a good complement to the film as it is far different, with more detail into exactly HOW Frank got away with matters and far less on the FBI "Javert" who pursued him. Still, we all paid for what Frank did, in terms of higher prices, Frank relied on the willingness to be kind of total strangers so his 6 months of cruel treatment in France didn't concern me too much. Still excellent and highly recommended.

I thoroughly enjoyed the telling of this sport span of white collar crime in a person so young. It is truly unbelievable that a mere teenager could have pulled off so much and fooled so many. The narrator kept my attention throughout. Although I had already viewed the film, I found the book so much more entertaining. If you saw the movie and liked it, I recommend that you follow up your experience with this book.

What a brilliant con artist, and to be so young....one with a (sort of) conscience. Held my attention all the way thru. Good reader Barrett Whitener. Has a pleasing voice, easy to listen too. Recommend to anyone interested in the workings of the con artist's mind.

Light, entertaining, amazing. Frank Abagnale, Jr.'s short life of crime pulls you in almost immediately and you keep listening to discover just what he has up his sleeve next. I was surprised to hear myself secretly cheering on his masterminds and cons. What an enlightening book to listen to over the holidays.
