Whiskey Beach

I never got invested in the characters. They both seemed so ridiculous that I just couldn't get behind them. Typically, that is what I love about Ms. Roberts. She is usually so great at character development.

The characters never really developed so when they finally hook up, it was anti-climactic. The mystery was only slightly better.

The narrator was just okay. He made Eli sound way to feminine.

I adore Nora Roberts and will continue to read her books. Try the Witness or Tribute if you like romantic suspense. Hopefully her next book will be better.

The story line wasn't as good as her others. I couldn't seem to identify or sympathize with any of the characters.

The story was made intolerable by the bad narration. Accents that should be there weren't. I had to make myself listen to this book. To be fair, perhaps he does better in a different genre. However, I won't be quick to buy an audible book if Peter Berkrot is the reader.

Different Narrator: More suitable to the story and setting.

As a lifelong fan of Nora Roberts, I finished the book. I don't have anything very positive to say recommending it.

If you are determined to read all of Nora's books: buy this in paper edition. The narrator ruined the story line and characters and I would not spend money or a credit on this audible version.

This was not an enjoyable experience for me. I don't normally complain about a book being too long but this one sags and drags. I did not bond with the characters or the improbable plot. There was no suspense for me. Very repetitive and farfetched. The narration was okay, it was the story that disappointed.

The storyline in Whiskey Beach would have fit perfectly into a short story format. It was frustrating to stop knitting and fast forward through the tedious parts, of which there were many. I listen to Nora Roberts when I'm in need of some light entertainment. This was a tedious slog through nothingness. No more Nora Roberts for me.

In my view, the narration was fine. It's hard to do much with a dull storyline.

Her books are becoming rewrites of previous books. I remember other books with lost treasures to only be found by love. The ideas in the book are copies of other books. Change the characters and a few other things. The narrator was boring as well. I used to love Nora Roberts books, and JD Robb, but she has dried up and it's not cutting it for me anymore. I will wait for reviews on future work before purchasing it, hate to waste my money.

This story shows typical Nora Roberts style. Strong characters, however pretty good but not very complicated mystery, makes it not one of her best.

The narrator nearly destroys any desire to finish the book. This story is about people from
Massachusetts, people who have a definite accent. In fact there is even several mentions of accent written into the story. This narrator has zero talent for these accents. He makes the protagonist sound like he is from Georgia instead of Boston. In addition he makes all the women sound like old men.

How these audio publishers can hire such narrators escapes me, and I promise no matter who the author is or how much I like them, I find it highly unlikely I will ever purchase another book narrated by Mr. Berkot.

Just a boring story. It was so hard to get past the narrator. I kept on hoping the story would get better, but it never happened.

Don't waste your time or money on this one.

I buy all of NR's books because I enjoy her writing. I can enjoy her books more than once. This story seemed to have the flavor of an older book. It was just not written like recent releases. It was okay. I figured it out in the first third of the book. That is not usual. This narrator is very professional but I do not enjoy his "women's" voice.

The story line is great, but the reader did not capture the right tones of the characters. He needs some work.
