It has been a busy few weeks for Private Kaylin Neva. In between angling for a promotion, sharing her room with the last living female Dragon, and dealing with more refugees than anyone knew what to do with, the unusual egg she'd been given began to hatch. Actually, that turned out to be lucky, because it absorbed the energy from the bomb that went off in her quarters.
So now might be the perfect time to leave Elantra and journey to the West March with the Barrani. If not for the disappearances of citizens in the fief of Tiamaris - disappearances traced to the very Barrani Kaylin is about to be traveling with....

"Loved it"
I really love this series! I want the next one (Cast in Sorrow) now :)
Narrator - as always - wonderful job!
Story - I was really hoping to actually get to the West March but we don't in this book - though we do get to find out what is in the egg (I so want one). We get some really good back ground info on a couple people but alas we only get part way to the West March.
If you are this far along in the series you, like most everyone will enjoy the story as much as I did.
"Cast in Peril"
Excellent writing by Michelle Sagara and really good narration. Love this whole series. I find myself checking as to when the next installment will be on Audible. If you like fantasy this is a really great series. I highly recommend.
"Love it!"
I absolutely love Sagara's ability to weave tales and Hvam's ability to bring characters to life. Cannot wait for the next book! Love Kaylin and Severin interactions!!!! Please let the good guy come in first!
"Love This Series"
I just love this series...wonderful epic fantasy. Highly recommended! My only disappointment is that I have to wait for almost another year for the next installment (cast in Sorrow).
Books make the world go round!
"Loved this book. Can't wait for the next!"
The hatching of the egg!
Kaylan of course.
I love this book and now can't wait for more. Please don't wait to long for the next as it is agony.
"This story does not disappoint"
I was eagerly waiting for this book to come out, and so I stopped all other books I was reading to start this one. I was definitely not disappointed. In fact, I would have loved to call in sick to work just to stay at home and listen to it. Christine Van does an excellent job with the different character voices, as usual. I was also very glad to get to know more about the Consort. I can't wait to see what adventure (or misadventure) happens in the next room, and eagerly anticipate the further growth of Kalen's relationship with Severn.
"Entertaining but the same story line"
yes
yes, but hopefully it will have some different twist to the character
yes, She did well as usual
No
I'm beginning to wonder if our main character will ever decide to have a romance with Severen or Nightshade or just keep us in suspense for ever
"Great Book - Love this series."
Read them all - start at the beginning. The heroine in this series is the most unlikely and unassuming of people, also maybe, not the sharpest tack in the box, but in her own unassuming way solves problems and rocks her world. This world she lives in is unique as are the characters which provides an opportunity for limitless stores and adventure. Keep writing Michelle. Khristine really brings the characters to life in her naration.
"Love this series"
This series is great.Would love to see K mature more and take on a love interest, or even remember that she has powers when it's almost not to late. But where ever it goes I'll follow.
"Another gripping story from Sagara"
Original, unpredictable, entertaining
The birth of the "baby dragon."
Wonderful narrator that gives unique voice to each character.
The discovery that Nightshade was selling his people definitely turned me away from any fond feelings for him for good - bored immortal or not.
