Publisher's Summary

Theodore Boone is back in a new adventure, and the stakes are higher than ever....

When his best friend, April, disappears from her bedroom in the middle of the night, no one, not even Theo Boone - who knows April better than anyone - has answers. As fear ripples through his small hometown and the police hit dead ends, it's up to Theo to use his legal knowledge and investigative skills to chase down the truth and save April.

Filled with the kind of pause-resistant suspense that has made John Grisham a number-one international best seller and the undisputed master of the legal thriller, Theodore Boone's trials and triumphs will keep listeners guessing until the very end.

Crack another case with Theodore Boone.

    "Theodore Boone: The Abduction"

I enjoyed the first book in this series Theodore Boone: The Kid Lawyer so decided to listen to this one also. Glad I did. Richard Thomas does a good job narrating the story. This story is advertised for children but adults will enjoy it also. It is a short story that leaves one feeling good. It is nice to see a 13 year old with such a focus on what he wants to do with his life. Enjoyed the scenes in animal court in both books. This one particularly was funny. You will enjoy this book for a 4 hour trip with the family.

    "A kids story??!! Who knew?"

I just see now that other reviewers have noted this is a kids story. Huh! Maybe that's the reason I didn't care for it -- I don't recall seeing, anywhere on Audible, that this was intended for kids. If I'd known that, I wouldn't have bought it, that's for sure. Anyway, the official blurb calls the book "pause-resistant" which is a major joke. It's a total sleeper -- not a bad little story, I guess. Just that in the scheme of things, it doesn't matter. There's nothing to keep you listening other than inertia -- and the fact that you paid for it. It's not bad. It's just ....... nothing. If there is an upside, it was listening to Richard Thomas read, and reminding myself, over and over, how much I enjoyed the Walton's, back then. Welcome back, John-Boy. That part was fun. (Overall? Our family enjoys Theodore Boone, boy lawyer. We hope that Mr.Grisham will continue to write more of these stories. We especially enjoy seeing the courtroom from Theo's perspective.

    "Interesting Storyline, Good Plot"
Would you listen to Theodore Boone: The Abduction again? Why?

This is an interesting book, and I would listen to it again. I often listen the second time while traveling in my car; and even if some of the story is missed because of distractions, it isn't necessary to back it up to follow the continued action.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Theodore Boone is the star of this series and is my favorite character because of his attention to detail and procedural knowledge of the law.

Have you listened to any of Richard Thomas’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Richard Thomas does a good job narrating the story and placing emphasis where needed. He has a well modulated voice and a steady reading/telling pace. I listen to all audio books at 1.5 speed - and don't miss a word of his messages - he doesn't sound like Donald Duck at that speed. I would listen to him again - he is an asset to your organization.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Theodore is an in-charge character, and some of his sound judgments are indeed amusing.

    Any additional comments?

We listened to book 1 last summer on a car trip, and my son (who normally tolerates the car trip audio book) has been asking about more Theo on a regular basis. With another long trip planned, I downloaded book 2, and he was thrilled. Theo remains a solidly good kid - a loyal friend, respectful son, and budding lawyer. The secondary characters add interest and humor, since Theo and his parents are pretty straight-laced. We have book 3 ready for listening on the ride back home. Definitely worth the credit (or just purchase) as a family listen (upper elementary/middle school).
