Publisher's Summary

It seems like an easy assignment for an assertive but sweet woman like Gracie Snow: track down her friend, Bobby Denton, a famous ex-jock, and bring him to Heaven (Texas, that is) to shoot a movie. How could he refuse a glamorous offer like that?

Easy, if you've got a big ego, a 1957 T-Bird, and prefer cruising the highways for girls. Still, Bobby can't get Gracie, an angel, out of his mind. Why not head to Heaven, raise a little hell, and let Gracie look out for the consequences?

    "If you haven't met Bobby Tom . . ."

Susan Elizabeth Phillips is wise and wonderful and this is the best of her darn near perfect books.
Bobby Tom Denton is the best ever. If you haven't met him, you owe it to yourself. Don't waste another minute.

    "Consider before buying"

Loved but this title is very much like her book Natural Born Charmer. So consider which one you want before buying both, since they are very much alike. She uses a road trip and a non-beauty as a surprise love interest in both and in very, very, very much the same way. I enjoyed Charmer a bit more, but consider one and not both before buying and buy another one of her books instead, I suggest.

"A book for those that are a glutton for punishment"
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

    Nothing.

Has Heaven, Texas turned you off from other books in this genre?

No. It is in a category of its own.

Would you listen to another book narrated by Anna Fields?

She wasn't bad. I wouldn't hold this book against her.

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Heaven, Texas?

Where to start...? How about from beginning to end?

    Any additional comments?

This book isn't like the others in the series that have some lighthearted dialogue between the characters. In this book there is no respect shown towards the heroine or the women reading this book. The hero of this story isn't just "afraid of love", he has no respect for our supposed heroine. The hero doesn't just ignore her or put her off he is down right HATEFUL towards her. It was hard to get to the end of this book and so disappointing for those of us that started out liking this series. I read, Match Me If You Can first and thought I would go back and start at the beginning, which was a mistake.

I'm done with Susan Elizabeth Phillips, the "Misogynist".

"Bobby, Bobby, Bobby, Gracie, Gracie, Gracie"

Again a great S.E.P. book. Love, humor, football and great, great characters. You just have to love Gracie; she is so off the wall. Bobby Tom is so flummoxed by Gracie that it is cute. He thinks that he is always is in control, but little does he know... If you like S.E.P. definitely get this one.

    "Fun listening"

No other word for it - fun! Great narration, the best of Anna Fields. She must have had such a good time doing all those SEP novels. The two main characters, Gracie and Bobby Joe, were right up there with the best of her couples.

    "Totally entertaining"

I love every book that this author writes and the narrator is the very best I have ever heard. Great story with wonderful characters fully developed. Had me laughing out loud at times. Wonderful ending as usual.

    "Great Listen"

If you have read or listened to some of SEP other books about the Chicago Stars football team then you will enjoy Bobby Tom Denton's story with Gracy. I didn't laugh as much as some of her other books and the ending was kind of corny but I still give it 5 stars. It is a great escape and with Anna Fields narration you just can't go wrong.

"Love this Author and Anna Fields narration."
What did you love best about Heaven, Texas?

The characters and the narration of the late Anna Fields. She has a way of making the stories have that real life feel.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The most interesting is the way the characters interact. The least is the sex. Way too much detail. But that's just a personal preference. One other thing I really didn't like was the way that Susie got with Wayland at first. I felt that she would never let herself be coerced in that way.

Have you listened to any of Anna Fields’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I listened to her years ago in "Ain't She Sweet". This is the book that got me hooked on audiobooks. I have to say I haven't heard one narrated by her that disappointed.

    "Fooled by the other reviews!"
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

People who like relatively plotless soft porn writing. This book started out ok but then degenerated into various sexual scenes separated by short bursts of plot.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

    Disappointment.
