Publisher's Summary

The key to weight loss isn't calories. It isn't fat. It isn't protein. It isn't even carbs. You can count them, cut them, and swap them all you want, but you won't lose weight if you're eating foods that your body can't tolerate. And the most common diet foods - like egg whites, wheat bread, and fat-free yogurt - are some of the worst offenders. These "healthy" foods are actually making you fat!

In this book, celebrity nutritionist and fitness expert J. J. Virgin pinpoints the 10 foods that sabotage weight loss. Just by eliminating these 10 diet saboteurs, listeners will see incredible results: Their fat will melt away, their metabolism will get a healthy boost, their energy levels will skyrocket, and they will start to look (and feel!) younger. As Virgin explains, the body is a chemistry lab, not a calculator. These 10 foods cause inflammation in the body, slowing the metabolism, creating mood swings and cravings and causing premature aging - not to mention a host of beauty problems.

In addition to eliminating the 10 foods, listeners will eat plenty of Virgin's 50 powerful healing and anti-inflammatory foods for 21 days, ridding the body of inflammation and hitting the diet reset button. After the simple 21-day program, listeners can try incorporating gluten, dairy, and eggs back into their diet and testing for inflammation. Virgin's clients see incredible results with the program, including:

  • Weight loss - at least 10 pounds in 21 days
  • Flat tummy
  • Younger-looking, clearer skin
  • Healthier hair
  • Improved energy
  • Better sleep and a clearer mind
  • Fewer mood swings and cravings

This book is for listeners who are tired of counting calories without seeing results, or who find it impossible to lose weight, no matter how many calories they count or carbs they cut, and listeners who struggle with any type of inflammation.

"Content made this worth it for me"
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

After hearing this book, I bought the print copy as a reference manual. I've been following this diet for 2weeks and have seen incredible changes in my health. I wouldn't have had the time to read the book in print and probably wouldn't have finished it because it's somewhat repetitive. I don't really like the author's inflection when she's trying to make a point (sounds fakey), but I love the content of the book!

"Once you have the 7 - its over!"
What would have made The Virgin Diet better?

The book has individual endorsements but little science or facts to support the claims. I believe what the Author is saying but I found the book to be more advertizement and self promotion then providing science bases evidence from studies or research. I do believe these foods are causing serious health issues for many people but I wanted to see the detail behind why a food causes these so called intolerance's. The editor could have eliminated most of chapter one and chapter two. These chapters contained little value other than some cheer-leading to help get many motivated. I am sure this could have been laid out in better and it might be a better book if I could put my hands on it but in audio form it left me with a sense there were things missing.

What could J. J. Virgin have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

I did not need countless testimonies accounting for how great this diet is. I believe the listener needs more information on what good foods are to replace the bad 7. I wanted to hear more about the names for ingredients the food industry is using to hide what they are using in their products!

    Any additional comments?

I am being critical as the book has some good information but not enough to warrant a full book. I was a little disappointed.

    "awesome!"
Would you consider the audio edition of The Virgin Diet to be better than the print version?

Yes I learned so much while I was driving!

What other book might you compare The Virgin Diet to and why?

The Hormone Cure. Both have loads of info and have changed the way I live.

What does J. J. Virgin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

    I don't know

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes actually, it was that interesting

    Any additional comments?

I don't understand why the other reviewer said there was not enough info on the foods to replace the 7, she offers tons of ideas and states why they are better for you, and loads of research is cited.
