In this audiobook, read by famed narrator Basil Sands, Samantha Reid is back as White House Director of Homeland Security, dealing with national security threats of every dimension. She receives intelligence about a plot so staggering, it could imperil the nation's communications, Internet, electricity grid - even transportation and aviation. It involves the creation of an Electro-Magnetic Pulse ("EMP") that would "fry" all electronics. It could set us back to the year 1910.
Meanwhile, her love interest, Tripp Adams, is sent overseas to a troubled region. Will he become involved in the plot? Will he be able to escape before disaster strikes? (Don't be too sure.)
Scenes inside the White House are convincingly described by the author, who served in the West Wing as Senior Director of the National Security Council. Listen to conversations in the Situation Room and the Oval Office. Join Samantha and Tripp as they deal with international tensions and political intrigue in this explosive sequel to Final Finesse, also available in audio from Basil Sands.

"Karna Small Bodman is in the top echelon, male or female, of modern spy writers. She's been there and done that and gets it all right." (John Lescroart, New York Times best-selling Author of The Hunter)
"Smart, slick, and exciting as hell, Castle Bravo is one great read. Karna Small Bodman has an insider's feel for the corridors of power. As you quickly turn the pages, you will find yourself wondering if the book is truth or fiction, A Winner!" (Christopher Reich, New York Times best-selling Author of Rules of Betrayal)
"Bodman skillfully moves her players around on a global chessboard, presenting a provocative concept that rings all too true. You're there, in a labyrinth of intrigue, where danger and drama abide. It's fresh and relevant and makes you clamor for more." (Steve Berry, New York Times Bestselling Author of The Columbus Affair)
"The real world is a rough place."
Yes. Bodman writes about threatening situations that really exist and are seldom discussed. Castle Bravo, written a couple of years ago describes a potential global catastrophe which is the subject of a hot new TV series, "Revolution". The series is science fiction. Bodman's story is based on real situations.
If you like good and educational thrillers by the top authors, you will like this one. The author knows her subject well and develops convincing characters.
The narrator read well, but the voice is irritating to me. I like a deeper voice.
It took about 4 sittings.
Bodman is an author who will endure. This is her fourth good book.
"Interesting, but..."
The plot moved well and the characters were interesting, but I was irritated by how whiny Samantha was portrayed.
"Boring"
The book was boring from the beginning and dragged through. I made it to chapter 17 and couldn't listen any longer. I would not recommend this book.
Basil Sands was OK
"Enjoyable Story"
I really enjoyed the Bodman's previous story. I was put off by the terrible narration, but was willing to give her 2nd story a listen. Again, I enjoyed the story, but the narrator is not good. His voices for the women are a caricature, and dilute any strength the character had. I think it says a lot when I'm willing to listen to a bad performance for the sake of a new author.
