"Shelter Mountain"
I would love more like this ,,I have so enjoyed this book ,I don't usually go for this type of book ,,but it had a review that sold me on it. I am so glad users take the time to write a review,I might have missed this one and that would have been sad for me. So here you go, I say go for it!
avid reader
"These books are fantastic!"
Robyn Carr is such a masterful storyteller! She makes you feel like you know each character individually. These stories are well-written, funny, touching and believable, with just enough spicy romance to top it off. I sincerely hope Audible gets the rest of this series because they are truly wonderful. I suggest starting with the first book (Virgin River). Oh, and the narrator is EXCELLENT!
I love witty, fast-paced books that keep you turning the page.
"Wonderful story of kindness and unconditional love"
If you've read my review of the first book in this series, Virgin River, you'll know why I like this author so much. Her ability to tell a compelling love story while keeping a smile on your face is only matched by Nora Roberts (at least as far as I've discovered- let me know who else I should try). She never uses demeaning language nor snarky comments to get a quick laugh and avoids graphic descriptions of violence. In this book, you learn more about the gruff "Preacher" and how tender he is on the inside. Paige is a battered wife looking for a new life and Preacher helps her find it. The descriptions of how Preacher helps her fight to get back her sense of self and safety are rich and help the reader to understand the plight of an abused woman a little better. The scene where Paige teaches Preacher to be a loving partner in bed is just beautiful. No wonder Robyn Carr is a best-selling author!
Say something about yourself!
"Okay if you like Romance books"
Robyn Carr seems to have developed her writing skills in this novel, and I must say it was okay. Not great, just okay, but better than Virgin River. Again the character development is lacking, but improved, the storyline is shallow, but has it's moments. I won't be reading any more from Robyn Carr, but if you like gooey Romance novels you will probably enjoy the Virgin River series.
"Awesome series"
The Virgin River series has been awesome and has not disappointed me. The characters are believable and are the kind of people you would want to know. I particularly liked the strong yet emotional character "Preacher", who was one of the main characters of Shelter Mountain. While the series obviously has females who are major characters, I'm enjoying reading a series that focuses on the men in the town! I would highly recommend it.
"The Greatest!!!"
You just do not want these books to end ! They are so so very good. Thank you audible for striking a deal with R.C.
Audible addicted love mystery, lately stuck on love story. Mother of 1 Labrador and 1 perfect man. Work way too hard, and so ready to be retired
"Start at the beginning"
I love this series thank God for early retirement I believe I listen to every book in the same week...sleep who needs to sleep with these hunks heating up my iPad. You will not be sorry all of the story enhance the previous story excellent character building I've decide to listen to them all again, awesome job Robynn and Therese great team.
I read so I can write
"Third time through"
I have read every book in this series twice and am now reading them for the third time so decided it's time I give credit where it is do. Big John is so loveable you just want to hug him and hug him. Am so glad he got the girl.
These books are very well written and Therese Plummer is the perfect person to read them.
Audio-addict!!
"Snore..."
I just can't get excited about Preacher's romantic life. It's not a bad book. I'm just not used to such a tame story. I can't get over my mental image of Preacher. And Im spoiled by how much simmering passion Jack exuded in the first book.
Now I didn't finish this book. So maybe there's some great unexpected ending. However, having listened the first half, the fact that I had no great interest in the predictable storyline means something to me.
Why do I give it four stars? I think Robyn Carr is a tremendous talent. Because preacher doesnt fall into my Alpha male category, I never had the open mind enough to get into the story. In other words, it's not the book, it's me... Lol.
For as much as I read and listen you would think by now that I would know how to spell lol. I read at least 5 books a week there are times I have gotten up to 10 in a week.
"got to love a Preacher"
out of all of the men i think i love Preacher the most. he is everyting you can want in a guy wrapped up in a very strong loving man. you really need to read this series if you are looking for a romance that will touch your heart and make you feel all those nice feeling inside well after the books is over. and just think you still have alot more of this series to come.
