"Very well done!"
While very long (and addictive) this novel is wonderfully inspiring. Be prepared to spend lengths of your time with it. Francine Rivers does a great job developing her characters in the historical context of the early Christians in Rome and all of these stories are thought provoking. It's scary how the Roman society (as portrayed here) devolved into something similar to our society today! I'm not sure how historically accurate they might be, but I would like to think they are....
I wanted to particularly mention the narrator- he does a fabulous job differentiating the characters by voice, being consistent throughout which is very helpful considering the variety of males and females who hold conversations in the story.
"Among the best books ever, Christian or otherwise."
This is the 2nd in a series of 3 books and the 1st is just as good. While this book is full of Christian values and morals, it is far from being free of violence. The author uses the main character (the slave girl, Hadassah) to teach some of the best and most in-depth lessons I have ever seen on how and why to be humble, meek, forgiving, and loving -- in short, how and why to be a true Christian. Christianity aside, these books will compare favorably with any in terms of action, adventure, suspense, and characters you really know and care about. The narration is excellent. 5 stars.
"Excellent!!!!"
I could not put this book down!! A wonderful book and the narrator does a wonderful job.
"AWESOME!!"
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It totally captivated me and I became addictive. I got up in the morning listening to it and all through out the day. I really loved the narrator, he did an excellent job. I have fallen in love with Mrs. River's writings. I love the way her books are so detailed. You get to know each character. Her books have such a biblical meaning and a lesson for each reader. When reading the Bible you never think about the lives of the other people who the book was not about. I just love it. I am in the process of reading every book she has written. Thank you Mrs. Rivers.
"Awesome sequel.."
I just couldn't keep my excitement when I saw that the "Voice in the Wind" has a sequel. "An Echo in the Darkness" had been more than very satisfying and awesome. Once again Francine Rivers had done a great job captivating a reader and a listener.
"first read by this author, now a big fan!"
I had never listened nor read any books by a Christian writer. I just loved this series. I bought it in paperback for my mother in law. (the series) The author has a wonderful way of bringing history to life, and it is very well researched. I learned a lot also, that I did not know, and this is always a bonus to me as a reader. Wonderful!
"Long entence journy of faith"
this was another thought provoker from francine rivers and a story that keeps your attention though it is a love story it is not just another historical love story
"Enjoyable"
I enjoyed the second of the 3 part series very much.
"Wow"
I tend to shy away from novels written by women; however, I wanted this book these books to go on and on. My wife recommended this after reading it, and I was totally cought up in the story and charactors. These books also reminded me of my own faith and motivated me to be stronger.
