"Sedaris's material (Naked, Me Talk Pretty One Day) is never funnier than when he's reading it himself." (AudioFile)
"David Sedaris Live at Carnegie Hall is a rollicking comedic masterpiece...this recording will deservedly take its rightful place among the best comedy albums of our time." (AudiobooksTODAY.com)
"As uproarious as Sedaris is on the page, he's even funnier reading his wickedly jaundiced reflections. With brilliant deadpan timing, Sedaris is a charm." (Publishers Weekly)
"Material that exists on other books."
I'm a huge David Sedaris fan, and enjoyed the other two audio books on Audible by the same. However, this live performance is to be skipped, as it has material from the other two books on it. The only difference is that on this version, you get to hear audience reaction, which is fun. Still, I wish I'd saved my money for when audible posts Naked or another Sedaris book.
"Witty, smart & very well read !"
My Swiss sence of humour differs sometimes quite a bit from the American one, but that humour is simply brillant! This Live Carnegy Hall recording is so real and therefor funny to listen to. The live audience reacts spontanous and naturally to the reading while David Sedaris pronounces his text as good as only a reader & author can. I heard parts of his longer audio books. They might be longer and less expensive but this one is not only witty and smart but also a show experience. Two Swiss thumps up ! !
"An absolute pick-me-up"
This was one of the the funniest audio books I've ever heard, another one being Sedaris' "Me Talk Pretty One Day." This one is quite short, but I'll keep it just to play again for friends. Having just finished a book of a weightier subject matter, this was a great break. It was nice to be smiling when I got to work.
"Too little for too much"
I'll wait for his next full-length audio book, thanks. More than just about any writer you can name, David Sedaris really needs to be heard. But not at this price.
"Don't drive while listening to this book"
There were times we were laughing so hard that we couldn't breathe or see. Watch your driving.
"laughed out loud!"
Be careful if you're driving or have to function at all
this man is very funny! But wished it was longer.
For a first time David Sedaris book I suggest
Me Talk Pretty One Day first.
"Absolutely Hysterical"
I haven't laughed so hard in a long time...and just from listening to a guy read from his books! The author's deadpan delivery really makes his stories work. Very entertaining!
"Not helpful?!"
Two of four users thought it not helpful for a reviewer to point out that this program is less than ninety minutes long--and at a cost of over ten dollars. On the other hand, I found that reminder VERY helpful.
"Terrific"
Laugh-out-loud stories. One of my favorite downloads ever.
