Publisher's Summary

Conservative talk radio's fastest-growing superstar is also a New York Times best-selling phenomenon: the author of the groundbreaking critique of the Supreme Court, Men in Black, and the deeply personal dog lover's memoir Rescuing Sprite, Mark R. Levin now delivers the book that characterizes both his devotion to his more than 5 million listeners and his love of our country and the legacy of our Founding Fathers.

Liberty and Tyranny is Mark R. Levin's clarion call to conservative America, a new manifesto for the conservative movement for the 21st century.

In the face of the modern liberal assault on Constitution-based values, an attack that has steadily snowballed since President Roosevelt's New Deal of the 1930s and resulted in a federal government that is a massive, unaccountable conglomerate, the time for re-enforcing the intellectual and practical case for conservatism is now. Conservative beliefs in individual freedoms do, in the end, stand for liberty for all Americans, while liberal dictates lead to the breakdown of civilized society - in short, tyranny.

Looking back to look to the future, Levin writes, "Conservatism is the antidote to tyranny precisely because its principles are our founding principles." And in a series of powerful essays, Levin lays out how conservatives can counter the liberal corrosion that has filtered into every timely issue affecting our daily lives, from the economy to health care, global warming, immigration, and more -- and illustrates how change, as seen through the conservative lens, is always prudent, and always an enhancement to individual freedom.

As provocative, well-reasoned, robust, and informed as his on-air commentary, Levin's narrative will galvanize listeners to begin a new era in conservative thinking and action.

    "The conservative's bible"

Mr. Levin has obviously put a lot of time and energy into this masterpiece of conservative think. If you are a person who considers yourself a political conservative, a believer in the free-market, capitalism, federalism and the associated freedoms that made our country the most prosperous and devoutly free nation the world has ever known, then this book is a MUST READ. It is the new conservatives bible.
If, on the other hand, you consider yourself a liberal or socialist (it is getting very hard to tell the difference) I challenge you to challenge Liberty and Tyranny, put your beliefs to the test against this book. Mr. Levins expertly researched book makes an almost irrefutable case as to why our liberal friends socialist leanings will lead nowhere other than complete financial and social ruin for our beloved country.
If you are a centralist, part of that undecided 20%-25% going into each election, you NEED to read this book. Once you have absorbed this information I would be willing to bet your middle-of-the-road days are over. It is about time you got down off that fence and pick a side, the future of our nation stands in the balance! Get informed, stop making decisions based on 60 second commercials, who looks and sounds the best, or who has the best slogan. Get educated and make sound political decisions to protect your future and that of your family. This book will truly give you the tools to do just that.

    "Shifted My Point of View"

I had noticed "Liberty and Tyranny" on the NYTimes bestseller list and chose to listen to it. I was not disappointed and my point of view on current events shifted some. I did not dismiss the book because it was written by a conservative and I am glad that I didn't. I found it helpful in many ways.

In particular, listeners will receive more than a primer on US history, the constitution, current events and on and on. More importantly, Levin makes his points with hard data which is encouraging. He has negative reviews for Democrats and Republications.

Essentially, he is calling for a return to the organizing principles of our country as exhibited in the US Constitution. Those who favor larger government will come away with a reasoned argument against such direction and an appreciation for the hazards such government brings. Those who favor smaller government will also be informed.

The writing is interesting, informative, and exciting. The reading is great. The book will disturb everyone who listens to it. If you are concerned about the future of America (from any walk of life or philosophy) this is a good book. I'll get out and vote in every election now - for certain.

I would also encourage audible fans to consider Mark Levin's book about the Supreme Court titled "Men in Black." It is more of a protrait of the court and its members and not ideological in point of view.

"The George S Patton of Radio"

As a soldier that swore to protect the Constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic, I thought I understood the founding document pretty well. Mr Levin uses a keen intellect and sharp whit to clearly explain where this country's founding began, the framers intentions, and our direction as a society to date. He makes a clear comparison between we conservatives and where we stand, and that of the Statist...or as you may know them, Liberals and thier goals. This book should be required reading in schools, instead of the revisionist drivel my son is sent home with.

"Every freedom loving person should read this"

It's a tough start for the average person, because it is so packed with details and technical information, but it gets easier as it goes, and finishes with some of the best expressed information anyone who values this great country could learn. We don't live in the greatest country in history by chance, and this book helps you understand how it is in danger, and how we can begin to preserve it.

    "Freedom"

Can anything more be said about how a free person would and should live their life? Thank you for putting part if not all of it in a book. This is the way my Grandmother lived her life, with respect for all, a kind hand when needed or a swift boot to your back side to straighten you out. Love that lady.

I listened to this book twice, it was great! The information is presented in a fair and non-emotional way allowing you to make your own decisions.

"A reminder of what made the United States great"

Not only does Mr. Levin remind us of our founding principles, but he warns of what will (is?) happen if we get away from them. It is the book for the day! Excellent read.

    "Finally some common sense!"

This is a great read as Mark Levin's logical and sensible approach to the constitution helps explain how far we've gone from the original framework of our government and he lays out a plan based on the founding father's principles for us to get back to where they envisioned this country to be.
Who better to learn from than a constitutional lawyer who has spent his life studying and evangelizing these principles.

    "Silent Majority No More"

Mark presents a call for a return to our founding roots because in them is our future. If we are to survive as a free nation the manifesto is the road map to follow. Read it and learn what the truth really is.
