Footsteps in Phoenix

Kendra was a survivor. She had graduated from the School of Hard Knocks, magna cum laude in her opinion. Having majored in push-me-around philosophy and the practice of no common sense, she felt deserving of the distinguished title of valedictorian. With those two studies behind her, along with some real-life experience, she had somehow managed to keep her faith and learned to never give in and never accept what life threw her way. Her faith had given her the belief that being of divine creation, she did not have to accept Satan's plans but could instead actively engage in things that brought her joy.

Kendra's life is a bit rough around the edges. She's the youngest of 19 children, a result of her mom's three marriages that produced nine children. Her biological father had four other children, and then she was adopted by her stepfather, who had six children of his own. It was a dysfunctional family to say the least. And the one sibling she's closest to, Daphne, is the one whose shadow she's always lived in. But when the matriarch of the family, Kathleen, is diagnosed with terminal cancer, Kendra must assume the role of primary caregiver and keep the family informed of their mother's condition.
