This novel of page-turning action and adventure poses the question, "If a society had no knowledge of Christianity, and then a Bible were discovered, what would happen?" Four hundred years after a deadly virus and nuclear war destroyed the modern world, a new and noble civilization emerges. In this kingdom, called Chiveis, snow-capped mountains provide protection, and fields and livestock provide food. The people live medieval-style lives, with almost no knowledge of the "ancient" world. Safe in their natural stronghold, the Chiveisi have everything they need, even their own religion. Christianity has been forgotten--until a young army scout comes across a strange book. With that discovery, this work of speculative fiction takes readers on a journey that encompasses adventure, romance, and the revelation of the one true God.
Through compelling narrative and powerful character development, The Sword speaks to God's goodness, his refusal to tolerate sin, man's need to bow before him, and the eternality and power of his Word. Fantasy and adventure readers will be hooked by this first book in a forthcoming trilogy.

"What a Find. I Loved It!"
Litfin writes with great imagery, bringing the town and the characters to life. Never having heard of this author, this novel was a refreshing find! Loved it!
"New Author Found and loved"
The story line and the detailed facets of which he described the stories.
HungerGames because of some of the same story lines of destruction and how people deal with them
"Disappointing"
The female voices were terrible. They lacked strength. In particular the heroine was not portrayed as a strong woman.
The most interesting part of the story was the premise. The fact that the consequences of our actions could result in such a dramatic change in the future.
Yes.
Probably not.
I was really wishing this would have been more exciting. The premise of the book opened up so many possibilities. I felt that the plot line the author chose to pursue was very predictable. It read very much like a quotidian romance novel.
Husband, Father, Marketer, Spiritual Sojourner.
"Love it - so engaging"
This is such an engaging and well-written fiction book. The author really gave thought to creating this future world and spent time developing the characters so you can connect with them.
I LOVE the narrator. As an actor, I'm the worst critic of these poor people. This is the first narrator that I've actually loved. He does an amazing job subtly introducing new voices for each character and does it convincingly - I could listen to him read anything and I'd enjoy it.
Great book - fun to listen to and a creative way at presenting timeless Truths that make you think. I recommend it!
"EXPECTED GIFT"
I found this book by accident and decided to download the story as I had some extra credits, but boy! was this credits well spend! I loved, loved this story and couldn't wait to listen to the rest of the series. A wonderful peace of fiction and I love the name he gave to this country. "Chiveis" It's even more enchanting than Camelot.
"Did not enjoy"
I could not listen to this book it did not grab me in in anyway, I was disappointed as other reviews were good, the premise of the story sounded good and I like christian fiction.
"Even a great narrator cannot pull off a bad script"
I listened to several books narrated by Ray Porter, having greatly enjoyed them (all by Don Winslow). so searched for others he read, The prologue of this book sounded promising, then digressed to cliche and poor writing.
"GREAT!"
The concept of finding GOD for the first time....it's a wonderful experience to find HIM when he convicts you & tugs at your heart strings!! Knowing the emptiness can only be filled with what the LORD has in store for you. Same as the characters in this book are finding out.
"propaganda should be more interesting"
this is a paint by numbers fantasy that really isn't that engaging. it gets a bit boring at times and you can see what is going to happen before you get there. the problem is that the author is scared to do anything that is not wholesome or explore some of the reasons that they believe or do not believe. if you thought left behind was a literary master piece then this is for you if not, find a better written and more insightful book.
"very pro christian book"
the beginning of the book was fantastic.but then it turned into an anti other religions then christian book.it got to be unlistenable
