A science fiction fan for as long as I can remember but I also enjoy history (fact and fiction) and humor.
"Be Careful What You Wish For"
Alright... I admit it... I'm a long-time fan of Doctor Who. (The requirement for full disclosure has now been satisfied)
When I downloaded this book, I was expecting to hear Billie Piper reading for her character Rose Tyler and David Tennant reading as the Doctor and narrating. This was not the case. My disappointment however was short-lived; David Tennant's reading of "The Stone Rose" is, quite simply, wonderful. The voices of Mickey and Rose are clearly identifiable with the characters in the BBC series. I especially enjoyed hearing David Tennant play the secondary characters.
If you're a fan of The Doctor, the story follows the established formula (more-or-less) although Rose is not the typical Companion but then again the Doctor is not the typical Doctor either.
"very enjoyable"
I had a great time listening to this. The story was good enough but having David Tennant read it makes it special. You won't be sorry if you download this.
"Great narration, character interaction"
I'm not used to listening to books and I did find myself losing focus and having to backtrack a couple of times. However, I did really enjoy listening to "The Stone Rose" and would reccomend it to any Doctor Who fan. The best thing about this audio book is far and away David Tennant's narration. He puts a lot of enthusiasm into the project, and his impressions of the other characters (especially Mickey) are spot on. I love the way he uses his natural accent for the bridging narration but switches over to his "Doctor voice" for his spoken lines. The life he brings to it makes it much more like listening to an episode than it would have been otherwise. I also really enjoyed the moments where the Doctor and Mickey discuss Rose. It's great for character development and David puts a lot into that "scene". Overall, if you like season 2 of Doctor Who or just David Tennant's voice, this is a great listen.
"Great 10th Doctor Story"
This could easily have been a proper episode in the Doctor Who series. Great story with lots of twists and turns that keeps you guessing what the Doctor and Rose are going to do next. As an added treat, David Tennant uses is talents to tell you a great story. Any DW fan will enjoy hearing his rendition of each character.
"Excellent!"
I've been accumulating the Doctor Who stories read by David Tennant, and this is the best I've listened to so far. Loved the plot and the usual twists as well as Tennant's voicing of Rose and Mickey and the other characters. Now if they'd just have made this into a TV episode!!
"For anyone who wants more 10th & Rose"
I loved this book. It was clever and fun with some very sweet moments between The Doctor and Rose. Besides who wouldn't want to hear David Tennant talk for nearly 2 & 1/2 hours? You don't have to worry about this story going against cannon or being unfaithful to the Doctor Who series. I too enjoyed the author interview at the end. I'm a huge Doctor Who fan and this was my first Doctor Who audiobook and I'm so glad I gave it a listen.
"A fun distraction"
I am a big Doctor Who fan and possibly bigger David Tennant fan. The story was true to Doctor Who form and read perfectly. I also liked that they interviewed the author at the end. I'd recommend if you are a Doctor Who fan.
"Great story"
For everyone that likes Doctor Who and for everyone that loves a good story - this audio is for you. The story stayed very true to the characters and storylines of the TV episodes. The story was also great - I would get to work and stay in the car listening to it!
And having David Tennant read it made it all that much better.
"Great book"
I loved this book it was so much fun. It was also was great to hear a real Doctor telling the story
"My Favorite Doctor!"
I loved this! David Tennant as the doctor...can't get better than that.
The story is very good. Listened to it in one sitting. I am a Who fan forever!
