"A unique romance - it truly stands on its own!" (Sherrilyn Kenyon, New York Times bestselling author)
"My new favorite narrator!"
After my huge disappointment with the narration of Cole's prequel The Warlord Wants Forever, I was ready to be disappointed again. How wrong I was!
A romance star is born and his name is Robert Petkoff.
I'm not even half way through the audiobook A Hunger Like No Other and I felt compelled to write a review. In this first book in the Immortals After Dark series, many characters are introduced and most are female. This could be a challenge for a male narrator but Petkoff does not disappoint. Each female character I've heard so far is recognizable and distinct. And his characterization of the male lead Lachlain is spot on; his Scottish brogue is smooth and sexy. Timing and pacing is excellent. Petkoff is an accomplished narrator, but this appears to be his first step into the Romance genre. I hope he continues to narrate this series.
"more please"
This has been one of my favorite series and I was so excited when I saw it on audible. I hope she will be adding all the books in the series to audible soon. The narrator did a great job he sounded exactly how I pictured he would. Please don"t make us wait too long for the next book Kaderin's story is so good and so is Mariketa's and well I haven't read a Kresley cole book that wasn't kicka**.
"OH MY!"
I loved this book when I read it and knew I had to get the audio when it came out. What a surpirse with the narrator... he is awesome with his rough and deep Scottish accent! I can't wait until the next book. IF HE CONTINUES NARRATING THIS SERIES, I'M GOING TO RUN OUT OF PANTIES!!!!!!! AND TALK ABOUT A "THRILL OF THE CHASE". HE CAN CHASE ME!
"More Please..."
I really like Ms. Cole's take on mythical races and loved the book when it came out. I was a bit skeptical about listening because IMO male narrators of romance are usually very good or very bad, Bad more often than not. When I listened to the sample, I knew immediately that I would not be disappointed. Mr. Petkoff does a great job emoting and his accents are wonderful. His take on the females in the book had me laughing to myself most of the time - especially his version of Nyx. I truly hope he is chosen to narrate the rest of this series. Can't wait to hear what's next.
I'm a mom of three and passionate reader with little time to sit with a book, so Audible has been a welcome addition to my days!
"Mostly Positive"
I've already read what's available of this series, and I love them enough to give the audiobooks a whirl. The only comment I really have to offer is in reference to the narration.
Robert Petkoff did an wonderful job with the male voices, and his accents were fantastic, but when it came to the female characters, I just didn't buy it. His voice is intensely masculine, and he really tried, but the women, especially Emma, came off sounding super breathy and and still male. I truly enjoyed his Lachlain (especially in the steamier scenes. Really, wow!) but women aren't his forte. Hopefully Mr. Petkoff can fix this, because in most areas his narration was amazing.
It's definitely not a deal breaker for me, but it was a bit distracting.
"FANTASTIC"
Wow, loved this audio. It was on from start to finish. Great story & mix of characters, great range of emotions, few suprises, overall enjoyable. Narration was great.
I've become a sucker for Audible. I love audiobooks, to the point of addiction. Especially a good romance audiobook... :)
"Outstanding! A Must Read. Wow!"
Wow!! My first Kresley Cole book! I started it at 9pm and it's 6am now. I can't stop listening it's so darn good. Great narrator. Great story and deep sensuality. Not smutty. But might cause a squirm or two or three. In a good way!! :) The story is riveting with surprises and danger. (Great side plot about the truth of elinore's background.)
I like the two main characters so much, I want more from them!! Hope the series has another book about them. But I'll definitely read the rest regardless.
The story sets up such a creative interesting world to explore in further books. Oh, and the male lead in his book is HOT. (although Jerihco Barrons [Karen Moning's Fever series] and Bones from Jeaniene Frost's Night Huntress are still my very favorite).
This is one of my favorite books in the fantasy/ romance genre. And I'll watch the sunset listening till I finish. And probably start another from the author.
LOVE IT!!
"Fabulous"
Love the series when I read it. Now to be able to listen to it...NICE!! I sure hope they keep the same narrator throught the series. He was great!!!!!
"Super story and narrator!"
I had already read this book, so the story wasn't a surprise. I've enjoyed all the books of this series. But I was delighted by the narrator, especially when he did Lachlan's voice. FYI, there is some explicit sex in this story in case that influences your choice of books, one way or the other. And it's definitely one of those rocky romances often based on misconceptions about each other. I got a bit tired of the heroine and felt like she wasn't fair to our hero for far too long. But I still liked the story a lot and would get the second book right now, IF AUDIBLE HAD IT!
"Wonderful"
I love this book. I had already read it but wanted to hear the audio. This book is hot. Robert Petkoff did such a great job. Can't wait for the rest.
