According to the Small Business Administration, 90% of service businesses will fail within the first five years. They fail not because they don't offer great services and products, but because the owners are extremely uncomfortable with traditional marketing and sales. The result is a frustrated, isolated, and overwhelmed business owner who does not know there is an entirely different, highly successful approach to marketing and sales available—and it's laid out in Book Yourself Solid.
Book Yourself Solid is based on Michael Port's proven system for getting more clients. And it works. In fact, 93% of business owners who have used the system have experienced a 34% increase in their total number of clients and a 42% increase in sales in the first year alone.
Original, wildly inspiring, personal, and provocative, Book Yourself Solid is an easy-to-follow road map for starting and growing your service business based on seven core self-promotion strategies. You'll not only learn how to develop a strong marketing plan and brand identity, but you'll also learn why self-promotion is absolutely critical to your success—and how to do it with passion and purpose. Even if you hate the idea of marketing and selling yourself, this practical, inspirational guide will lift you up and give you the confidence you need to comfortably and authentically market yourself and your services, tap into an endless supply of quality referrals, and watch your business grow. If you're a seasoned professional, you'll find the fresh ideas and tactics you need to keep bringing in new business for years to come. If you're a novice service professional looking for a complete business building system, you'll have the keys to unlock long-lasting business prosperity, security, and abundance for yourself and your family.
Once you make a name for yourself using the seven core strategies for self-promotion, you'll be able to run a profitable, meaningful, and absolutely booked-solid business overflowing with as many clients as your heart desires.

"Do your homework! This is not a conceptual, theoretical look at how to succeed as a service professional. Instead, it's just what you need if you're stuck and you'd rather invest in your future (by doing the right kind of work) than complain about it later." (Seth Godin, author of All Marketers Are Liars and Permission Marketing)
"Productive Marketing Strategies"

Yes
If you are starting a business, this book will help you generate good loyal customers.
"Fresh new ideas to start new product"
The book gives new fresh ideas to accelerate the promotion of new professional activity. Most of the points are well known, but usually not applied in this order. It is clearly American way to do business. For Spanish marketing style it is a little bit too pushy.
On the other hand the book is too much oriented to service area to offer services and does not give much idea with new, not yet known, products.

It will be appreciated if the next version of the book helps with new product positioning on market.
"Highly recommend"
Michael Port is teaching from experience of someone who has actually booked himself solid. He gives real techniques and tools that work today for you to promote your business, brand, product, or service and get speaking engagements. He offers an excellent unique approach to find partners who can help promote your business.
His authentic approach is very refreshing, appealing and entertaining and is worth many times the price. As an entrepreneur i highly recommend this book to other entrepreneurs, small business owners and sales and marketing professionals.
That he reads the book himself and didn't hire a book reader
"Great for obtaining new resources and tools"
An animated look into his coaching experiences that gives the connecting moments of "this can be me".
Book Yourself Solid had the balance of resourceful content as well as laughter. Some of the beneficial resources that have worked great for me are the Book Yourself Solid Direct Outreach and Web Strategies. Although I am familiar with Face book and Twitter Michael Port shares a few additional twist to enhance your current profile.
"Selling Without Selling, Made Simple"
I found the audio version to the perfect way to turn my car into a university on wheels.
I have done courses that cover the topics in this book, but they seem to jump too quickly into marketing instead of doing the ground work first.
Developing your foundation was the most valuable part of the audiobook to me. Recognising who I am and what I have to offer, sets up any business person perfectly from the get-go.
I couldn't wait to get back into my car to drive to work, just to listen in to Michael again.
This is my favorite book on self development so far. Awesome.
"Only Read This Book if You Want to Be Booked Solid"
This is an excellent read. If you want a book on this subject that is truly helpful, this is it. If you don't want to work at booking yourself solid--if you want a quick fix--you won't find it here. You'll have to change the way you work if you want this system to work for you. And you will have to take your time and WORK to build real relationships for this system to work for you. But, if you work it, it will work. Port shows you how in a smart, funny, down-to-earth, not too preachy way and provides you all of the tools and resources you need to succeed without your having to spend a ton of money to get access. Does he offer other services in his book? Yes. But you'll WANT to buy from this man who adds so much value to your business life in this book. Be prepared to be amazed in a world of the mediocre and unamazing business information.
"Excellent book overall"
I was getting pretty ticked off by the first chapter - it seemed like it was starting off with too much praise and flattery to me the reader and not enough substance. I was about to turn it off in disgust but decided to listen to a full hour before deciding. I'm glad I did - once he gets past the "you're wonderful and this book will get you the success you deserve" (I hate books like that because that type of flattery usually is an attempt to hide a complete lack of substance) he actually starts giving lots of good advice on referral marketing. Very helpful, I'm implementing a lot of his ideas and highly recommend the book to any small business person looking to grow.
"Some good themes and ideas, but a bit outdated."
I would recommend this book to fellow business owners in the service industries. There are good ideas about really breaking down why you do what you do, and who you should be doing it for. Then some strategies for taking action on these themes.
The book does not place as much of an emphasis on using technology and social media, which are some of the most cost-effective ways of building a business personality.
Overall, though, not a bad read, and you can knock it out in a few days. Worth a credit.
"Life Altering!!! Loved Loved Loved it!"
Maybe not, just because I wanted to run out and buy the hard copy or take a course. I had tried to start up a business or two before and now I know what I could have done to make it successful.
As said, if you really want to book yourself solid this is the right book for you. It has endless ideas. I've only used parts and pieces in the past week but the phone is ringing and booking new clients each week.
My friends are impressed at the results also. Want to listen to every suggested book, and checkout all the links soon. I will be booked solid this year! I can see it! ~bobi, An Orderly Home and Office.
So far this book cannot be compared to others -- it is remarkable.
Good scenes and narration throughout the chapters.
Yes there has been an extreme reaction. I know that I have invested wisely because of the immediate results.
I wish I had heard this book 20 or 30 years ago ;) Would have saved me a lifetime of frustration. For those of you that are sick of being micro-managed or have bosses that are not supporting you and have thought of starting your own business? Read this book!!!!
I enjoy reading fantasy, science fiction, and horror the most. To improve, I read about language, psychology, spirituality, and art. I read about computer science and business for professional reasons.
"Great for small business and individual marketing"
Book Yourself Solid contains useful information for individuals and small businesses creating a marketing and sales plan. What pleased me was the organization, strategic mindset, and point by point descriptions. Each line of reasoning fits perfectly into a category, which in turn fits into the overall strategy and goals. The information was also of such breadth and depth that numerous situations and techniques were described, with a few given a great detail of coverage.
