This is the first of Dan O'Donovan's missions to which, in spite of his protests, his control has attached Dan's department store business partner, Pres Hooper. Pres has been told that Spain is the land of romance, so he is eager to go along on this "business trip" to straighten out some problems with Spanish imports. Dan's real assignment is to find and "dissolve" an elusive terrorist organizer for whom, at long last, his control finally has a photograph, a home base, but no name and an unsettling connection to the ETA, a Basque group whom some experts call the best-trained terrorists in the world. Just another "routine" mission that goes very wrong within the first few hours. Pres, totally clueless as to the real purpose of the trip, is not exactly helping; nor are Dan or Pres pleased to see Pres' sister, tweedy, tally-ho Mary Sue, arrive in Madrid.
