"perfect family road trip book"
What did you love best about The Sixty-Eight Rooms?In anticipation for our trip to Chicago, our family listened to this wonderful book. Kept us (parents and 8 year old) interested and entertained. Best of all was going to the Thorne rooms after having visited them through this wonderful book

"GREAT FOR AN 8-YEAR-OLD!"
I bought this title believing it was for adults. I rather like magic, time travel and romance, but the book is definitely for kids. I have enjoyed other books for kids -- the Harry Potter books and "Little House" series come to mind-- but this one has its limits for an adult. For children living in the tough city of Chicago, these sixth-graders have a lot of freedom, riding public transit and double-crossing their parents. At one point, I believe they took public transit even when neither had money. Maybe they carried student bus passes. I was happy to learn that the little rooms really exist! I was hoping the name of Sophie's diplomat husband would come out. Then the kids could google on their friend's married name and learn how her life went in history. But no.
Well, it's a wonderful book for half-grown kids. There's a lot to talk about between listening parents and children. A bright much younger child could also listen and enjoy as children did with their parents before TV. I won't bother with the sequel.2 of 2 people found this review helpful -
"This is a children's book!"
I chose this book because I am an avid miniaturist and I love the Thorne rooms but I was completely unaware from the description that this is a children's book. I have listened to many books narrated by Caroline Lee and she always does a good job but nothing could make me continue listening to this one.

"Captivating"
Any additional comments?What a wonderful and original story. A little on the predictable side but terrifically so. Sent me to the internet daily to see the rooms and finally I had to order the catalogue from the museum.

"I want to go to Chicago!"
This work of fiction was a fun listen. I didn't know about the exhibit prior to listening. What a visionary Mrs. James Ward Thorne was. I would think it would not be possible to
recreate due to cost of labor. Marianne Marolne did an excellent writing and Cassandra Campbell's voice was appealing. I think Tweens would really enjoy it. So didI!0 of 0 people found this review helpful -

"Brings out the child in you!!"

"A book for my grandkids"

"Great Family Listen"
Where does The Sixty-Eight Rooms rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?This story kept my entire family enthralled on our road trip this summer. Traveling home from vacation can be a chore but my children begged us to not stop so we could continue to listen.

"Good but not great"
Any additional comments?This audiobook was good. I felt like it took a long time to set the stage up for the actual story to begin, which made it drag on in places. Once it finally began I found myself enjoying it very much.The narration was great- voice actor was strong. It's a very easy-going tale, not scary, but very intriguing. Not a lot of "action" in this book.
Parents please note that this book DOES have a few swear words, and a few others parts where editing for children is advisable.
