When humanity expanded beyond the safety of Earth to new stars and horizons, they never dreamed what dangers they would encounter there. When the alien juggernaut known as the Covenant declared holy war upon the fragile human empire, millions of lives were lost - but millions of heroes also rose to the challenge.
In such a far-reaching conflict, not many of the stories of these heroes, both human and alien, have a chance to become legend. This collection holds 11 stories that dive into the depths of the vast Halo universe, not only from the perspective of those who fought and died to save humanity, but also those who vowed to wipe humanity out of existence.
Authors include Tobias Buckell,B. K. Evenson, Kevin Grace, Jonathan Goff, Robt McClees, Eric Nylund, Frank O'Connor,Eric Raab, Karen Traviss, Jeff VanderMeer, Tessa Kum, and Fred Van Lente.

"Remember Reach"
Good stories. Good narration. There was only one that I didn't like. You'll know when you hear it because it's a story where the Spartans act completely out of character to help out some aliens when they totally just would have killed them in the beginning. The rest is great. We get to learn more about Cortana's ordeal on High Charity and a little more back-story of Masterchief. I would recommend this to anyone who likes science fiction, even if they've never played the games.
"Well Written!"
Most of the stories in this book were actually really well done. The only reason I gave four stars was because there was one or two stories that were a bit dry in terms of plot but overall a well written book. I thought that there were alot of different types of stories which gave the book a fresh feel every time you read a different story in the book which is why this book is interesting from start to finish.
"Booooring unless you are a hardcore HALO fan"
Some of the stories are great. Most are not. Couldn't wait for it to be over so I could listen to something else. The gems, though, I wish they would develop and give their wn book deals to. Please, no more bundling of good with garbage!
"Truly Essential"
I would recommend this to anyone who has an interest in the Halo universe and anyone who enjoys a good story of any kind. Evolutions has it all, action, horror, drama, romance and mystery; all wrapped in an awesome Sci-fi package.
Admiral Preston J. Cole steps into the Halo Universe in a big way. Also Soren-066 has got to be up there as one of my favorites now.
Jen Taylor and Steve Downes added a little extra something for fans of the Halo franchise.
Each story had its own feel, some terrifying, some uplifting, some sad, some informative and some were just plain cool.
"some good , some amazing"
i listen to one story every night , there are some real good story n here , and they are very relaxing
my favorite character is cortana from human weakness , voiced by her accutal voice actor from the game , this is by far the best out of all the storys in here
this is a 15 hour audio book , so no it would take alot of effot to sitting
"Recomend to all Halo and galactic sci-fi fans"
All of these short stories contain the same blow by blow combat (from first person to massive space battles), continuing forerunner discoveries and political entanglements that have made the pervious Halo novels so compelling.
Aswell as this; Halo Evolutions also brings a much more....vivid tale involving the flood.
A must read to all Halo fans.
"Sci-Fi Short Stories on Halo"
I would, I enjoyed all the short stories that seemed to go in order.
Normally I dont like when they change narrators but this time it was ok
"Not actually unabridged"
I love short story anthologies and I love Halo. This was great. It also made the listening very bite sized which is nice. My only real disappointment is the audio does not have everything that the book has. The book has some really excellent poems in it that are not included in the audio. Particularly disappointing since it included the short letter at the end which wasn't much longer than the poems that were left out.
"Yes, Halo sells, and I feel abused."
People who collect Halo memorabilia, and collectors of noir genre material.
Something less depressing.
The narrators were not bad. The stories were too damned depressing!
None.
Look. I like Halo. I have all the books, games and so on. But this sucked. Every story I read AND I will ADMIT it I couldn't finish it, everybody dies! It's a never-ending barrage of stories of people who died. No hope. No glory. Just death. That is not worth the time reading. It would have been nice if they could have interjected some positive stories but they didn't. I understand that it is what makes John 117 so great, that so many people failed and he did not but if that's the case why bother telling these stories? He did have support somewhere didn't he? Overall, stay away if you can. I pre-ordered this too! It's too bad.
"The Good and the Bad"
There are a few really great stories here, Altho the rest were lacking, they still stayed true to the Halo universe. In war theres alot of death, and those stories, showed the darker side of that. Over all, it was entertaining, but we'll always have our favorite.
