Publisher's Summary

Did you know that John Adams had to coax Thomas Jefferson into writing the Declaration of Independence? It's true. The shy Virginia statesman refused at first, but then went on to author one of our nation's most important and inspiring documents. The third U.S. president, Jefferson was also an architect, inventor, musician, farmer, and - what is certainly the most troubling aspect of his life - a slave owner.

    "Narration matters"

We were preparing for a family trip to Monticello and I thought it would enhance the experience for my kids to listed to a history of Jefferson as we drove there. The content of the book was just what I was looking for but the narration was awful. His tone was flat and he reads in a stilted manner. At some points it was clear that he was reading lines, not sentences. I was dissapointed as were my kids.
