R is a young man with an existential crisis—he is a zombie. He has no memories, no identity, and no pulse, but he has dreams. His ability to connect with the outside world is limited to a few grunted syllables, but his inner life is deep, full of wonder and longing. After experiencing a teenage boy’s memories while consuming his brain, R makes an unexpected choice that begins a tense, awkward, and strangely sweet relationship with the victim’s human girlfriend, Julie.
Julie is a blast of color in the otherwise dreary and gray landscape that surrounds R. His choice to protect her will transform not only R but his fellow Dead and perhaps their whole lifeless world. Scary, funny, and surprisingly poignant, Warm Bodies explores what happens when the cold heart of a zombie is tempted by the warmth of human love.

“I never thought I could care so passionately for a zombie. This story stayed with me long after I was done reading it.” (Stephenie Meyer, #1 New York Times best-selling author of the Twilight series)
"Incredible!"
I've never read anything remotely similar.
R
It definitely had me laughing!
I loved this book!! My most unique read so far, I'd say. I loved R's mind and thinking process. He was so sweet. Isaac Marion did an excellent job. I loved hearing his progression throughout the book.
This was my first Zombie book, so I can't compare it to others. However, I never thought I'd like a book about zombies let alone love one. In my opinion, the ending was just a tad bit weak.
I wholeheartedly recommend listening to this book rather than reading the print edition. The narrator was incredible. You could tell he put a lot of hard work into reading it. I'm sure it wouldn't have been quite the same reading it for myself. Anyways, awesome!
Busy mom who loves to read but doesn't always have the time. I enjoy YA, Romance and the occasional Best Seller.
"Zombies with emotions...it's weird and wonderful!"
I am not a big fan of zombie stories (with the exception of the Walking Dead). I decided to get this book based on all the good reviews on Audible. I am so glad I did!!! This story was so unique and so captivating. It's both weird and wonderful. I've never read anything like it. Kudos to both Issac Marion for writing such a rich and enthralling story and to Kevin Kenerly for bringing it to life with his amazing performance. 5 Stars all around!!!
"Amazing"
This review is from a hard core Zombie fan.
I enjoy gory, sadistic, and terror driven zombie and apocalyptic books. I did not think I was going to enjoy this book and put off listening to it for a while. I finally broke down (ran out of Zombie books to listen to) and began to listen. I was amazed, SHOCKED, and totally hooked from the first paragraph to the very last word. I have fallen in love with the characters, even the dead ones. I could not stop listening. I believe this book would make a GREAT blockbuster movie. A MUST LISTEN FOR ALL ZOMBIE FANS!!!!
"Very enjoyable!"
Yes, I probably will. It was fast paced and detailed and I felt like I got to know the characters and the universe. I enjoyed this a lot.
I favored 'M', actually, he always made me smile when he appeared. The protagonists were great but the side characters made me want to know more.
I really liked the dialect he chose for Nora.
I'm unashamedly totally addicted to Audible and YA Fiction. Aspiring writer. Workaholic. Used to have stacks of books to plow through but Audible allows me to actually "read" them. "My name is Shanah and I am an Audible Addict." Oh, and I spend way too much money on this stuff, but I don't care!
"The 1st book I immediately re-read!"
Yes. This is one I would say I liked more BECAUSE of the Narrator.
Everything. I loved the prose, the way R's thoughts were articulated through verse, the angsty refreshing vibrancy of Julie's character, the plot, and storyline, the humor (laugh out loud, chuckle, snort, giggle, etc.) and the relaxing narration by Kevin Kenerly. He nailed it.This book is hard to describe. It is complex for sure. Surprisingly.
I actually cried during the scene where John Lennon's lyrics "Nothing's going to change my world..." were playing in the background while both main characters had realized that EVERYTHING about their world had changed.
Definitely Perry...I would ask if he would change anything knowing how everything turned out.
I REALLY got "into" this book. It is definitely not just some superficial teen zombie romance book. It is very emotional & a book lover's FEAST. More like a buffet. It has a little bit of everything. And of course, the humor, the youthful hope for a better world, the internal monologue of "R", and love "M"'s character too.MORE PLEASE, MR. Isaac Marion.
"You will cheer for the zombies!"
This story follows a zombie who is called ‘R’ because he can’t remember his whole name. While he is on his quest for brains he comes across a young man and starts eating his brain. R is able to pick up this man’s memories of his girlfriend, Julie. R finds Julie and decides to keep her instead of eating her brain. This sets off a chain reaction of events that will change everything.
This is a great zombie story and I loved it! Issac Marion’s story has a Chuck Palanick feel to it. Although R is a zombie, you can’t help starting to like him and want him to take over the world! If you read one zombie story, it should be this one. You will never think of zombies the same ever again!
The Narration Review
This book was narrated by Kevin Kenerly. He has the perfect voice for this zombie story. You never know what to expect with zombie-speak, but he did a good job of portraying them.
"Wonderfully captivating"
This book is wonderful. I listened to it on audio book, and I highly recommend this method. Hearing the zombie language lends a wonderful reality to the book. I was captivated from the beginning. One of the better (best?) zombie books I've read.
I'm married with 3 children and 2 grandchildren. Love to read books, and love to listen to audio books. Genre's UF/Sci-Fi/ dystopian/ fiction and mystery/thrillers
"OH MY GOODNESS!!!!"
I loved this book :) One of my favorite reads so far, I loved R's mind and thinking process. A must read for all Zombie fans and non Zombie fans. Sooooo good. :) The narrator did a excellent job. I listened to it in 2 days, I couldn't put it down.
"Left me wanting."
In three words: Interesting, entertaining, unfinished.
That would have to be the main characters best buddy. A bit raunchy, honest to a fault, and he has a determined loyalty. I like those attributes in people.
Probably, but it depends on which kind of story it would be. Needs a bit of work on character development.
Julie. If she's worth coming back from the dead for there has to be something there right?
Overall I thought it was a good story, I just wish there had been a bit more explanation as to how the world, and the main character got the way they were- two very important points that left it feeling a bit unfinished, at least to me.
"Love the viewpoint"
At first I thought, "oh god a stupid romance book with zombies?" Figured they'd have Fabio in tattered clothes or something...But I was was wrong. It's actually a fairly funny book based on zombies "healing". I've read a couple of books like this lately. Its refreshing that it shows people really are not dumb and as a species, humans do overcome the "impossible" I always hated that about apokolypse books where the military is useless and Humans are doomed because they are too stupid, frightened, and feeble to survive.
Now, they made this book into a movie and I hope they focus more on the humor that is sprinkled throughout this book. The author seemed to dab a bit in the humor and then abandon it for the realism...zombies are not real so stick with the humor. But I highly recommend this and you will be pleasantly surprised.
