    "It's Great!"

I'm a sales representative who is in my car all day long. My car is my office, so having the NY Times on audio cd has been a blessing. I receive the Wall St. Journal in paper form at home, so I chose the NY Times for different source of news. Plus, as most people know.....having time to read the WSJ everyday is almost impossible. The NY Times on audio is a great way to stay informed of the top news around the U.S., World, and business. Before I get in my car each day, I download that morning's edition, burn it to a cd-rw, and I'm on my way. Each edition usually last around 40-45 minutes. It's great!

    "This is a phenomenal service."

For years I have wanted to read the NY Times, but never had the time. Now, it gets read to me every morning on my way to work. It's wonderfully interesting, informative, and well done. I really feel like I have an idea of what's going on in the world now. This service alone makes Audible worthwhile.

    "A chopped, incomplete,"

I have been listening to the NYT audio digest for more than two weeks. In brief, this service is a chopped-up, incomplete version of the daily newspaper. While it is unrealistic to deliver entire stories, the editors have a certain "expertise" of stopping a story in the middle of a significant point. This "leave you hanging" approach forces you to choose between two options: Buy a copy of the newspaper to finish the point or cancel the audio digest. I'm canceling the audio digest. In contrast, the WSJ audio digest is a significant improvement in the delivery of the audio format (political point of view not withstanding.)

    "New YorksTimes"

I enjoy listening to the NYT every morning. Technically the editing could be better. There is dead space in the front end of stories and the editor clips the end of the stories. It makes for annoying listening.

    "It should be good, but..."

I have a lot of respect for the NY Times, but poor editing and mediocre narrating drag this service down. You might as well watch CNN Headline News for all the depth you get out of this version of the Times.

The NY Times is better than this. If the WSJ can get in-depth stories in their Audible version, so should the NY Times. If you read both the NY Times and Wall Street Journal, get the Audible WSJ and read the print version of the NY Times.

    "Disappointing Delivery"

Let me first say this is by no means a critique of the New York Times itself. I love the paper.

I listened to the Wall Street Journal for a month and enjoyed that, but was looking for a little balance politically. So, I figured a month of NYT would shift the balance back towards the left a bit and get me back closer to center. (The Journal seems to be a bit on the conservative side of things to me.)

I read the reviews about chopiness and just hoped it wouldn't bother me. Unfortunately, I found the audio version of the NYT very difficult to listen to. The stories are indeed, as another listener said, cut off at very inopportune times. The selection of stories was fine, just not the editing.

Perhaps this format works for some people, so I suggest you give it a try if you really love the paper. It might help you know which stories you actually want to read. I don't have time for that unfortunately, so I guess I'll be switching back to the Journal.

The format is so annoying that I don't think I'll be listening to any more editions for my month of subscription sadly.

    "Great listen"

Clearly, the New York Times is the United State's most respected Newspaper. With this download I get the best of it each weekday. I must say that this daily download has become just as an important part of my morning routine as my first cup of coffee. My only complaint is that it's not available on weekends.

    Enjoy!

    "NYT Audible Version"

I have been getting this service almost a year and it continues to be an outstanding value in the subscription mode. The New York Times and a book for $14.95 per month can't be beat. I do not give many 5 stars, but these two combined deserve it.

    "Great overall news briefing"

The New York Times audio digest is a great overall news briefing for those who don't have the time to read or could utilize the time they spend on commuting or busy with other things. The daily audio digest reads the main articles on various pages and provides a great overall briefing of the day's news as well as an emphasis on the main article. The NYT tends to provide more, shorter and brief articles to give the listener more of a variety of news. On the other hand, the WSJ tends to emphasize on a major article and then provide brief snippets of What's News and other pages. If you like a greater overall news briefing on a variety of articles and pages, you'll like the New York Times Audio Digest. If you want to listen to an insightful article on a particular news topic or article, you'll enjoy the Wall Street Journal. If you can afford both, get both NYT and WSJ, but if you can only afford one, you'll have to determine what is more important to you: getting a variety of news or getting an informative, insightful news on a major article.

    "New York Times Review"

More liberal than I ever imagined, The NYT still provides an excellent news digest. The articles aren't in depth but in forty minutes you know what is happening. My friends think I just got smarter. The Journal section and international coverage are a couple of my favorites.
