"loved it."
I've read the book many times, but it was equally enjoyable listening to it while I did other things. It's very well narrated, and the sound quality is excellent. no complaints about this title.
"A wonderful book and a wonderful narrator"
The book was great, better than I ever expected. It made me laught, and worry, and exclaim with the characters.
In this case spesifically I must give the narrator her due in the pleasure this book gave me. She was great, poised, clear, pleasant to listen to, and she conveyed the spirit of the words. She was also very good at voicing the different characters so that each had a distinct and fitting sound. I later went to check if this narrator voiced any other of Jane Austen book because that's who I want to hear reading them to me. Unfortunately this the only one of Austen's books that Kate Reading voiced. Which is a real pity.
"Excellent Narrator"
Pride and Prejudice is one of my favourite books and I read it regularly. So, my greatest concern in downloading this audiobook was whether or not the narrator would do credit to the work or not. I am happy to report that she does. Kate Reading does a wonderful job of voicing the various characters, making it easy to discern which character is saying what dialogue. Not only are the characters distinctly voiced but Reading obviously knows them intimately, for her performance of each is exactly in line with Austen's description of them. Kitty is truly fretful. Mr. Darcy is dignified and reserved. Elizabeth is lively. In fact, Reading was such an excellent narrator that I am disappointed that there are no other Jane Austen works narrated by her.
"Loved it!"
I loved this book. It was well narrated and I am looking for more books read by this narrator. It's a classic.
"Excellent reader; Great novel"
Pride and Prejudice is the 4th unabridged Austen novel to which I have listened and is the best of an excellent lot. Her novels are very witty and have an amazingly modern sensibility. The reader here is exceptional--one of the best I have encountered.
"wonderful!!"
I have read the book many times over the years and seen different versions of it in movies/video. This adio book captured perfectly the essence and nuances of the book and brought this listener into the drawing rooms and conversations of the characters. I actually cringed with embarrassment for Elizabeth in the relevant parts and laughed out loud at others. A truly wonderful experience!
"Excellent story - Excellent reading"
I wanted to submit a 2nd review of this novel and this recording. I've since listen to several other records like Sense and Sensibility and Emma, and I have to admit that I still love this novel and its reading the most. The narration is excellent and she brings life to the story and that the other narrations fail to do.
Bottom line - if you're looking for an excellent recording of a Jane Austen novel, then you start and finish here.
"Superb characterisation"
Kate Reading has a great tone, delivery and pace. She maintains her voices for each character so that one can instantly tell who is who, and they all seem very appropriate. This is the full version of the book and as such immerses one in English society. Absolutely worth the money for the long edition.
"Wonderful"
This wonderful classic is well read by this narrator who keeps the pace perfect and the characters distinctive. I have listened to this version several times and get involved each time. It's a pleasure to have a narrator embrace the writing style of Austen and read it so it comes to life. There is an art to reading Austen aloud almost as much as the art to reading Shakespeare aloud. This was the best narrator for this classic, in my opinion.
