Publisher's Summary

Eve Dallas is the tough lieutenant hot on his trail, but this is unlike any case she’s ever been assigned - or any killer she’s ever pursued. A police sketch based on eye-witness testimony reveals the killer has green skin, swollen red eyes, goblin ears, and a dislocated jaw-structure that defies the human form. Is it a mask? Is it make-up? Or is the explanation more sinister? Dallas faces off against multiple suspects - all of them students of medicine capable of precisely slicing the ears, noses, and eyes of the three victims. But who had the motive? More importantly, what kind of rogue science are these healers practicing?

"In Death Book 33.5 - Not Robb's best, but good"

If you're reading the books in order, this one would be 33.5, after New York to Dallas. Susan Erickson, as always, does a wonderful job as narrator. I thoroughly enjoy the Dallas novels and have downloaded all of them. Chaos wasn't the best one ever, but it was worth the price and the time if you enjoy the series.

    "Short, but satisfying!"
Would you consider the audio edition of Chaos in Death to be better than the print version?

Listening to Susan Ericksen has become my preference for the JD Robb

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Although the book is a short one, the characters were well developed, and the murders were not easily solved. I appreciated the scientific quirks in this one, as well as the accurate treatment of the struggles of addiction.

What does Susan Ericksen bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?

Susan Ericksen's readings are like icing on cake...makes it so much better!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I did not want to listen to it all at once...in fact I purposefully kept restarting the book so it would last longer!

    Any additional comments?

Some of the shorter books in this series seemed rushed...not so for this story. Very satisfying! Enjoy!

    "Chaos in Death"

This is a novella that seems as if was written for Halloween. Susan Ericksen does a great job narrating the story. The story takes place after Eve Dallas's return from Dallas Tx which was the last book in the series. The story is short but enough action to keep one listening. Makes a nice change of pace between reading much longer books.

    "not bad, not best"

Not as bad as the other reviewers thought. Most of her short stories are not as good as her full length books, but this one filled in some story lines from past books. There was plenty of Rourk action and not just steamy scenes.

    "One of her best"
Would you listen to Chaos in Death again? Why?

No... I don't relisten to books.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes.. I did not want to reach my destination before the story was over

Have you listened to any of Susan Ericksen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This compares right on par with others

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

    No

    Any additional comments?

I love JD Robb and this is one of the best.

"Remember that this is a short book."

I know many have judged this book poorly, but it is the shortness of the book, not the lack of the writer that makes this book disappointing. Having read two others in the series just as short I was expecting the disappointment, but was still looking forward to the book. It was fast and I longed for more, but it is still wroth the $$ like all the book in this series.

The short stories are never as good as the full length ones, but this was still entertaining and Susan Ericksen is a fantastic narrator.

"Yawn - JD Robb on autopilot"

This Eve Dallas story is not one of JDs best. It has nothing new in it and does not hold the readers interest. It seems rushed and the story has little depth, no location changes, no interesting characters and hardly any inclusion of York. It is not a mystery or an adventure. The author was not creative at all and the story was very short and flat. Sorry.

    "Interesting as always"

I have in the past, read J. D. Robb and thus had a clear mental picture of how the characters would speak and the emotions they shared or chose not to share. I regret to say my mental picture in no way matched the narration. Sorry Ms. King, I did not enjoy your performance. I will need to continue reading J. D. Robb on my own.
