Praising Tim Dorsey’s tongue-in-cheek humor, the Miami Herald wrote, “Nobody, but nobody, writes like this guy.” Here Florida politics take the main stage in a rollicking satire that proves Dorsey’s at the top of his game. When a traumatic experience forever changes Florida gubernatorial race candidate Marlon Conrad’s life, he hits the road in a Winnebago to find the “real” Florida. But his odyssey is plagued with would-be assassins and cutthroat journalists.

"Politics at its "best"-funny and intriguing"
There are some amazing twists that come together all through out the novel that makes me think I may have missed a few really funny ones. Very entertaining!
When Marlin's fiance decides to tell him the engagement is off because she has found someone see who appreciates her puppets. Since its his press secretary, they will be forever entwined anyway!
His voice and timing are extraordinary!
almost
"Serge rides again!"
Have to say this ranks right up there.....wildly humorous, in a dark kind of way. But always politically on point. In the vein of Carl Hiaasen, too!
Following Serge, of course.
Mr Wilson's talent is amazing, makes you want to search out all his work, and listen!
That's a tough one, not sure....but it would be a great movie!
Hooked on this series of books....for sure
"doesn't go anywhere"
The early part of the book is very much like the work of Carl Hiaasen which I love. But the story, well, there really isn't much of one. There were so many tangents that I had to give it up after a couple of hours.
"A great listen"
This author/narrator combination is a winner. The humor and political satire make for great fun.
"not my favorite.....waited for Serge"
The. commentary on politics should be read alound before every session
HoHum!d
I will still look forward to another adventure....but I will first be certain that Serge is front and center
"Funniest one yet"
Of the first three, this one struck me as the funniest one yet. Several times I had to stop driving and pull over because I was laughting too hard to drive. It may not strike everyone the same way, but it hit my sense of humor.
Not exactly sure why, but Christopher Moore's LAMB or FOOL are my comparison. Very off beat sense of humor.
The political canditates in the RAW wrestling match and the rich bastard who becomes a professional sports team owner.
Laughed hard, Dorsey has taken everyday events and showed how funny they are. And of course, there's Serge, the insane genious killer and his nonstop trivia of everything Florida.
Not necessary, but adds continuity to start the "Serge A Storms" series of books in the order they were written, This is # 3
I listen in the car while i drive. I have eclectic tastes in books and if it interests me I listen till its over.
"Made me laugh out loud and kept me laughing."
I have recommended it to several of my friends. It's hysterically funny and fun. Florida politics have never had a magnifying glass like this one. I have also had to warn some of them that they can't have the kids in the car and some parts are going to embarrass them if someone else hears them listening without context.
Just about every Tim Dorsey book is great. I have read the entire series and loved it. I look forward to being in florida and looking for some of his landmarks. I guess I would go for Cadillac Ranch or Triggerfish Twist next. Start near the beginning of the series.
I guess it would have to be the Rolling Stones body guards.
Laugh Laugh Laugh.
Listen to it and enjoy. If your not laughing every minute wait 2 minutes and you will again.
"A wild ride..."
I'm a big fan of Serge and this episode doesn't let you down, especially in an election year. One of Tim Dorsey's best!
