"A Great Book From a Great Series"
I couldn't believe when I saw that this had been released. The previous book in the series (Relentless) was published barely a year ago. I downloaded this on a friday night and I was done listening to it by monday evening.
You need to get these books in order or this book will not make any sense. Here is the order:
Dauntless
Fearless
Courageous
Valiant
Relentless
Victorious.
Christian Rummel is probably the best reader I have ever heard. He switches characters so well that it's a pleasure to listen for the reader's skill as much as the author's.
I cannot recommend this serious enough.
"This is a great series"
The Lost Fleet is one of the most entertaining SF series I have ever read. I've now listened to the complete series 4 times. All I can say is that I've really enjoyed Mr Campbell's work. I would recommend to anyone who is looking to read this series is that you start from the beginning. Even though I know Victorious is suppose to be the last book in the series, I really hope that Mr Campbell re-exams this decision and continue with the more in this series. The possibilities are endless at the moment.
"A great continuation to a great series."
I started this series as this book was released, so I was able to listen to all the books in the series. This one really ties things up nicely. Great action, espionage, and a little romance.
I can't wait for the next book in the series.
I am an avid eclectic reader.
"Victorious"
Oh, how sad the series is over. I do hope he goes on to write about putting both the Alliance and the Syn-tic back together to fight the aliens. Christian Rummel did a great job narrating the series. Campbell did a great job with the space battle scenes and also with building the tension and suspense between the various people in the series. I am looking for more series by Jack Campbell. I feel as if an old friend has moved away.
"Good listen! Can't wait for more"
It went by very fast. I can't wait for the next book.
I am a blind lawyer and aspiring writer, trying to read a little bit of everything but partial to sci-fi and military fiction.
"The Perfect Ending, in that It Isn't One"
When this book hit Audible, I set aside studying for finals until I'd finished. It's funny in retrospect then that I dreaded this book's arrival. It meant the end of a series I'd come to love since I'd first discovered it on Audible some two years before. If you've made it through the first five, all I can say is, what are you waiting for? And if you haven't, do not under any circumstances start here; this is the payoff to a long journey, filled with tension, triumph, and sacrifice.
Luckily, this was not the end of the saga of the Alliance fleet, but rather the jumping off point for two spinoff series, one I happily revisit from time to time.
"Great Series"
Overall excellent book with fairly decent narration. My only complaint would be the repetition the author uses on a regular basis.
"Good Book, Excellent Series"
If you read the other books of this series then this one is very predictable but still makes for a good listen. The series as a whole is excellent and Christian Rummel did an awesome job with his narration.
"Wrapping up the series"
This book certainly tied up the loose ends, and has some very good passages. However the final war encounter was spoiled for me because the "twist" was so obvious for a long time before the normally smart characters worked it out for themselves. I kept shouting "No, you idiots, they are [doing X]". The final dialogue scene to resolve the romance subplot was nicely done, also with some twists.
"Thriller From Beginning to End"
As I needed something to keep me awake in my car for my 10 hour drive to Canada, this book turned out to be the best solution. It kept me alert and awake for the entire trip, and thus safe, without the risk of dosing off as is the habit of long distance drivers.
This book is highly recommend it for folks who want a thrill as well as those who are piqued by science fiction historical mystery.
