"A time to kill"
I was disappointed with the reading of this book. Sentences repeated several times. The reader was not as good as most. All in all, the reader made it worse for the story.

"First Audio Book, Pleased"
Would you listen to A Time to Kill again? Why?I don't listen or read the same books twice, but if I did- sure!

"Excellent Narrator!"
A great book becomes even greater when Alexander Adams is the narrator. Bringing to each character a distinct voice and dialect, Adams makes you want to replay every chapter. I love audiobooks and first heard this particular version when I borrowed it from the library years ago. At that time they were on cassettes. Needless to say I was absolutely thrilled when I saw Audible.com had the same audiobook on its website ready to download. I could listen to the book over and over again; it's that good!

"great naration, story drags a bit"

"I'm now hooked on Grisham"
What did you love best about A Time to Kill?The story is real, or so it seemed. Nothing really seemed far-fetched, although there were some extraordinary happenings. But it was an extraordinary story.
What did you like best about this story?Small town. The showing that different races can, and do, get along and go to bat for one another.
Have you listened to any of Alexander Adams’s other performances before? How does this one compare?Have not heard this reader. But I really enjoyed the way he changed his voice for so many characters. His voices for the judge and for Harry Rex were most interesting, and actually funny.

"Good story but ..."
This is John Grisham's first novel and the storyline is good. But the book is from a different era. The use of the "n" word is pervasive. In fairness, the word is not used to defame. It is used casually, like the color red would be used. For me, that took a 4 star book down to a 2.
The setting is unfamiliar to me so I liked learning about a different geographic area of the country. Presentations of regular people, the KKK, the ACLU lawyer and the civil rights groups were very interesting.0 of 2 people found this review helpful
