"Pimsleur programs provide plenty of positive reinforcement that will keep learners on track, and we found that Pimsleur gave us more proficiency and confidence in speaking the new language than any of the other language programs we reviewed." (AudioFile magazine)

"I'd rate it higher but materials are missing ....."
I've been through all of the Phase 1 and found them quite useful. The only problem I've had in buying these courses (I buy the 5 units at a time) is that Audible doesn't provide the PDF reading exercises that are part of the lessons. I tried calling Pimsleur and they said that it was Audible's responsibility to provide the PDFs that are part of the course. In contacting Audible, all the customer service staff will do is give me links to the reference guide (a general description of how the 'Pimsleur Method' works) which are NOT the reading exercises that are supposed to be included with the lessons.
So Pimsleur won't help me because they say Audible (the one I bought all the courses from) *should* have the PDF reading and vocabulary exercises - between a 'rock and a hard place' on this one. My only suggestion is maybe one has to order directly from Pimsleur to actually get everything that is *supposed* to be included with these lessons.
"Reference guides are available"
I noticed where other Pimsleur purchasers complained about the reference guide materials not being available. I struggled with this also initially, but found that Audible has in fact made them available in pdf downloads. I purchase the lessons 5 at a time, and have found that the last 5 in a phase have the download link available (the earlier lessons in a phase seem to only include the general use guide link without the reference material). Hope this helps.
"pdf there, but without information on lessons"
To the reviewer who noted that the pdf is now included in the downloads, I just downloaded this because of this review, only to discover that the pdf is just 14 pages stating the method of teaching philosophy and contains nothing about the notes for the lesson.
Even though I am disappointed that there are no notes, in the past I have purchased and used this method of language acquisition and it is absolutely the best method! I owe the amount of Spanish I can now speak fluently to this method. I just got my hopes up that there might be additional materials that would help me to visualize the spelling that could be printed out. Overall, the way in which the method helps you to think in the language is superior, but it's still nice to have some written material at times.
