Publisher's Summary

The United States stands as the wealthiest, most powerful nation on the face of the earth. But now, in the midst of unprecedented and skyrocketing federal debt, severe economic troubles, political uncertainty, declining morality, a weak church, growing spiritual apathy and apostasy, historic natural disasters, and a myriad of other daunting challenges, many wonder if America’s best days are behind her.

Will history’s greatest democracy stage a miraculous comeback, returning to the forefront of the world’s economic and spiritual stage? Can America’s remarkable religious heritage be renewed today with another Great Awakening? Or will the rise of China, Russia, radical Islam, and other external threats - coupled with the U.S.’s severe internal struggles - send her into a death spiral from which there can be no return?

New York Times best-selling author and political expert Joel C. Rosenberg tackles the question: Is America an empire in decline, or a nation poised for a historic renaissance? Implosion will help you understand, through the lens of Scripture, the enormous economic, social, and spiritual challenges facing the United States in the 21st century and explain how you can make a difference at this critical crossroads in our history.

"Not bad, but not as good as I had hoped"
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I think it would be great for someone that is only informed by the mainstream media.

If you’ve listened to books by Joel C. Rosenberg before, how does this one compare?

I have listened to his novels which I loved.

What three words best describe Mel Foster’s performance?

A little distracting because of the monotone voice.

Could you see Implosion being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?

Yes - might be very well suited for a report/documentary.

    Any additional comments?

Good information - well documented, explains where we are in one sphere, but missing the rest of the picture, geological, geopolitical, etc.. We are in the last days. All the nations of the earth are in turmoil economically. Millions are starving to death - millions dying for the faith, mega quakes, the sea and the waves have been roaring. What are the signs for if you don't (won't) see them for what they are? Also needs to re-think the "imminent return doctrine." Jesus said and Paul reiterated - that day shall not overcome US who are of the light. Only those in darkness will be surprised by Jesus return. We may not know the day or hour, but we WILL know the season if we are in, by and of Him. How could Jesus call the jews of his day a wicked and perverse generation for not knowing the day of THEIR visitation, but give us a pass? Time to wake up brothers and sisters!

    "Partisan and Christian?"

This book is a confusing blend of America's weaknesses (morally and financially) and how ultimately they will likely lead to its weakening as a world super-power.
I agreed with most of his diagnosis, up until the end of the book, that is.

The end of the book was focused on how politics might save our nation, and specifically partisan Republican politics. Although labeled with disclaimers by the author, this was clearly his message, and for me it made me cringe, as I do not agree. As Christians I feel strongly that we must focus on the issues, voting partisan politics blinds us to many issues, and further divides our nation.

"Awful, boring and description is misleading"

I expected this book to be a solid discussion of economic and "spiritual" issues. I did not realize that it would be an evangelical Christian discussion of the bible and the Rapture. It was anti-Obama with many examples of how the author sees his failures. Although I did not expect this and it is not clear from the description, this is a strongly right-wing book with strongly political and religious bias. By using lots of numbers it sounds like it is more objective than it is.It even includes strong criticism of gay rights even tho this seems to have nothing to do with the main topic.

I expected something more broad-based, and "spiritual" in the sense of values, ethics and non-materialist considerations.
