Publisher's Summary

New York Times best-selling author Mary Janice Davidson has made listeners jump from their seats with her thrilling tales and roll on the floor with her biting humor. Her Undead books, starring sassy, fashion-conscious vampire queen Betsy Taylor, are a unique treat worth sinking your fangs into.

In between running her vampire nightclub and hunting down the perfect pair of shoes, Betsy learns her long-lost half-sister Laura is actually the spawn of Satan. Complicating matters, prophesy states that the devil's offspring and the queen of the vampires are destined to rule the world together. Breaking the news of world domination to her newly discovered sibling might be a bit more difficult than Betsy imagined.

Dying for more? Don't miss the other titles in the Undead series.

    "Cute"

I liked this series alot. It's fun and shallow, and Betsy has some hilarious lines. The narrator's interpretation of how Sinclair speaks is kind of dumb, but you get used to it. If you enjoyed Southern Vampire Mysteries, you should like this too.

    "A Fun Series"

Betsy is starting to get a handle on the whole "queen of the vampires" thing she's been saddled with (it does, after all, tend to come with some great shoes), and then her evil stepmother announces she's pregnant.

Thing is, this leads the sinfully sexy vampire king to tell her that her sister is destined to be favoured by Satan, and Betsy can't make the baby shower because it's during the day.

Filled with the usual fantastic inner monologue of Betsy, this series continues at its frenetic pace, and leaves you laughing all the while. I really applaud Davidson's ability to keep the series light and funny while introducing a few more wonderful secondary characters, and spinning a much wider plot net. I'm curious to see where it all goes. As always, there's the sexy vampire king to be Betsy's annoying (and arousing) counterpoint, and her best friends and mother always chime in with some great lines as well.

"Love It, then it was over"

This was a really great listen. The narrator does a wonderful job, the charaters are great, and it was building an interesting storyline, then it was done. Boom, just like that mid-story it was over. Nothing was brought to closure, just over. It left me confused.

    "Still a Super Fun Series!"

This book was just as nutty as the previous two in the series. It has a great cast of characters, from a mouthy BFF to a crazy step-mom. Betsy, the vampire queen, continues to be tragically yet hilariously shallow & dimwitted. The Betsy and Sinclair dynamic is still fun & steamy. Plus Betsy finally gets her head on straight about how great a catch Sinclair is. In this book, Betsy finds out that not only does she have a sister, but said sister is the spawn of Satan. Only MaryJanice Davidson could manage to make that into a funny scenario. I laughed the whole time at Betsy's wild antics, but also found myself wanting to know what happened next. Bear in mind that this book, and the other ones in this series, are purely for fun. Also, Nancy Wu's narration is somewhat lacking. Someone like Amanda Ronconi would have been perfect. But you grow accustomed to Wu's narration style.

    "A bridge for the series"
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

The story was ok. I didn't feel cheated until thelast few chapters. This book in the series felt more like an introduction to a few more characters

Would you be willing to try another book from MaryJanice Davidson? Why or why not?

I've enjoyed the writing. The narrator reads a little too slow for me. I listen at a higher speed to accommodate the slower pace of the narraitors characterization. Every few minutes she would speed up and I would have to slow it down or go back 60 seconds.

Did Nancy Wu do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Each character has a good voice. I can tell the difference between them with no problem. Again, the slower pace made me feel like some of the characters were too slow.

Do you think Undead and Unappreciated needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

I believe it does have a follow up and I'll listen because I need to know where it ends. This book abruptly stopped with no real significant conflict.

    Any additional comments?

Nancy, please pick up the pace

"Thon of a... My Thithterth'th Who?"
Would you listen to Undead and Unappreciated again? Why?

I've worn out my discs, and borrowed the originals so I had to buy the book to replace it. I LOVE this series!

What did you like best about this story?

What's not to love? There's Betsy's sass and acerbic attitude. The fact that she lisps when her fangs come in. Her lust/hate relationship with Sinclair... "Oof-dah!"

Which character – as performed by Nancy Wu – was your favorite?

    Betsy, of course.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The Reluctant Queen of the Vampires.

    Any additional comments?

Ya gotta listen to these books!

Very fun, a little bit rauchier language than I remember in previous stories, but still entertaining.

"Not sure how Title fits the Story"

I may have missed something while listening to this book. But I am not sure where or when Betsy was actually unappreciated in the book. Well, she does mess up with her friends at one point and reaps the cold shoulder consequences of those actions. "Unappreciated" doesn't seem to be the right word to describe that, though. The alliteration in the title is catchy ...

The short summary of the book tells us that Betsy has a half-sister that she didn't know about and there is a prophecy about them both.

Betsy wants to know more and reads from The Books of The Dead for too long with bad consequences. She wants to meet her sister and goes looking for her. Finds her and, well, ... talk about "Minnesota Nice" ... Laura is the walking embodiment of it. Betsy isn't sure she can tell Laura about the prophecy. To make matters even worse, the nightclub is on the verge of bankruptcy. The worst thing, though, is not Betsy's stepmother's pregnancy -- no, it is Betsy's reaction to Sinclair. Her "life," she feels, is really complicated.

Some reviewers here didn't like this addition to the Queen Betsy series. Everyone has their own tastes and is entitled to them. This book is a little bit different. Yet it moves along the overall plot and adds new characters and twists. It is a decent addition to the series.

I was most surprised that the reader/narrator is the same for this third book of the series as for the first two -- I don't remember her voicing of Sinclair being so stilted and "off" in the first two. She does a good job except for Sinclair.

    "Just ok"

I really enjoyed the first novel of this series, the second novel was not that bad, but by this third novel, the characters and plots are just coasting. I hope the fourth novel picks up.

    "Still love it!"

While I could have gone "sitcom" longer with the "Betsy hates Sinc-lair" storyline, I am totally enjoying this series. FUNNY!!
